It's kinda shit, but it's kinda hard to predict whats gonna happen. I'm just gonna keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Just it was kinda unexpected or something...

It always is Dane!

Raiding these stations can only be effective in the short term. For instance, if ComReg take BigHitsFM off the air thats a success for Niall. Problem is that all the staff of "Big HitsFM" eventually start setting up their own stations - usually using worse gear and less well engineered. That creates more problems in itself. After all, what would you rather have ... one Freedom FM or 4 Ben Murray FMs?

The reality of things is that nobody can ever totally get rid of "pirate radio". Theres always some eager teenager with a grasp of electronics out there ready to give it a try. Shit - it happened in the late 80's/early 90s. Nobody ever thought that there'd be unlicenced radio again. How wrong we were.

Theres people here that can remember the raids of 1978 (Ian Cribben was 40 at the time ha ha), and the raids of 1983, and the shutdowns of 1988 (I was 13 and I cried like a bitch), together with the rebirth of the pirates in 1991/2 and again with the raids in 1994, and the rebirth of the pirates in 1995 with Pulse and Hot, and the subsequent demise of Pulse and the growth of a new scene with stations like Freedom and Phantom coming to the fore and now the raids of today ... etc etc

Anyway to cut out all this waffle, I'm trying to say that these things come in cycles.

To those of you who have lost your favourite stations, I do hope they're back soon. To those involved, best of luck in returning.

Final thought. Maybe one of the more intelligent members of this board (Mister 807 maybe, although hes probably busy todaY) might write up a piece explaining precisely what to do in a raid scenario. I have an old copy of some rules from the Sunset days regarding raid protocol and what you may/may not do or say.

Some TX's weren't even taken AFAIK, some went off voluntarily "just in case". Now the question has to be asked - why? What stations giving pirate radio a bad name caused this, or was Niall overdue some fun?
