Dublin Pirates

How many Dublin Pirates are on at the moment. some one told me there's only two. it must be sad 4 pirate djs in a way and also the legal stations. this might sound silly but if theres not pirates there no new talant. theres no feeding ground for legals any more. just look at broadcasting collage course's. the main talant that comes out of that is news and sport readers etc. A prime example is 2fm. bringing back marty wheelan. For Irelands youth Station its sounding like rte radio 1 ish

I think future in legal radio is bleak and getting boring. thank god 4 the little things in life like internet radio and iPods cause thats the ways its going

Re: Dublin Pirates

Nova 946 seems to be the only one on 24/7. The rest - Sun, Zone and Jack only seem to come on at the weekend and/or the evening. Heard Pulse and Liquid on last weekend.

Re: Dublin Pirates

A problem in Dublin nowadays is the lack of FM frequencies that won't cause a problem with someone or other. The legal stations get very cranky if there is something just 0.3MHz away, and a lot of the recent Dublin pirates were on frequencies only 0.3 away from legal stations in the Dublin area.
0.4 MHz is regarded as the minimum seperation for stations in the same area when BCI/comreg plan new stations.

Of course there are plenty of AM freqs that won't bother anyone if people want to try that!

Re: Dublin Pirates

oh the pirates, what would we without them. Why don't they just leave th e pirates be and let them get on with giving some of us specialist entertainment that the legals could never give us. No ads, no silly american VO's, mid-atlantic accents. People that work in pirate radio are truly passionate about their music and it always came across when Phathom was there.

maybe if there were no pirates whatsoever it would look like they had done their job and weren't needed anymore!

Afraid not 021, Comreg recently announced a whole raft of AM frequencies to be used here in the future including two well known freqs currently occupied by pirates!!

That didn't stop a number of groups in Limerick, Galway and Dublin applying for a license to operate on it.....although there's been SFA activity in that regard since....
