So, it was Witnness weekend... 40,000 people over two days - all in the 15 - 30 age group...
Which station covered it best? Who shouldn't have covered it? Who should have done more?
Thoughts?

Most of the coverage was pretty ok, would have been nice to hear some more live stuff though. Oddly enough, particularly enjoyed Spins Irish Language show from Witnness yesterday evening. Top music etc.
Another well known Dublin station that operates without a licence but plays a lot of the Witnness acts had an outside broadcast pulled at the last minute and had all its accreditation withdrawn after voiciferous complaints from an unlikely source within our national independent station. Real pity that.

thought spin covered witness the best broadcasting live from the venue itself,

Its a real shame that some of the stations objected to the presence of Phantom FM at the gig ... I thought the good old days of blacklists/paranoia were behind us!!

They were afraid that Phantomfm would put them all to shame as they actualy play alot of this music and actually know alot more about these bands than the other stations . This proves that they
think that if Phantomfm were to do a live Broadcast from the show no one would listen to the other stations .

Didn't get to hear any radio coverage, since I was at the gig.
Saw part of the 2FM roadcaster to the right of the Main stage behind something...
A dish with "2FM" was on it, and a UHF aerial pointing towards 3 Rock/Donnybrook.
Didn't see one single Spin logo all weekend or see any of the presenters that were supposed to be there.
Favourite part of the festival was Basement Jaxx last night.. Mingled my way up the front as the mud fights were going on... Brazilian dancers, great visuals and nice tunes.. Crowd went mad when "Where's your head at?" came on!
Chemical Brothers were second best, being at the very front of the crowd meant I could barely walk at the end.. It was jump or get hurt!
Was at the front for Kosheen which was deadly aswell.. plenty of water and beachballs thrown around.. Good atmosphere. Poweful vocals..
Groove Armada was packed to capacity and when security started to prevent people from entering, a hole was found in the tent and everyone jumped the barrier to get in under the tent.. It was well worth the effort!
No Doubt climbed up the stage supports and hung out of it, mic in one hand!
Johnny Moy, JXL, Ian Brown & Morcheeba were all enjoyable too..
Got in at 3.30 this morning, covered in muck... Brilliant weekend!
I usually stick with 2FM at weekends so I cant really make a comparison to any other stations ....... having said that the lads in Montrose done us proud.
Mr Spring's Firin' Squad was a glorious funny mess (in a *good* way ;) ) and the little bit I caught of Fanning was excellent ..... very well produced interview segments by one of the best interviewers in the business. The couple of live Oasis tunes I heard on Sunday was also good radio. Well done to all concerned
