Nothing personal Wayne, but my head got done in some months ago with all the bootlegs. Some of them are amusing for the anorak interest but thats about all. Is anyone still playing them at the gigs?

Like the odd mash myself, trouble is some jocks play mash upon mash upon mash,a few here and there is no harm.
Only have to look at milkshake/billiejean from this year sure after that came out how many of us played the origional again?

good one is kellis v tyler james although a lot of people think they are the same song anyway.

True,I tend not to go too over board, but across the pond they hold bootleg nights every week, pretty popular too I hear although doubt itll ever take off here,There are some good ones alright, but the majority are for anoraks as u said Dearg, but as mentioned they are good for a change as long as their 'commercially' enough!
Oh and one one,it's hilariously well put together:

Eminem (Witout Me Acapella) vs TV Themes (Rainbow,A-Team,Nightrider,Match of the Day Grandstand The Bill and Benny Hill!!!) - Without Themes
Class!

Yeah aint bad, loads of quality bootleg sites that people put lotta time into making up,some are excellent, some strange i know, but sum are even better than originals (Kelis - Milkshake),slowly in my opinion bootys are creeping in to mainstream commercial venues more so than ever not to mention on air too, Frank Jezz FM104 In the Big Mix has plenty quality ones, whats 'WRECKING MY HEAD' is the shite thats floating around still,Beyonce etc alot of jocks have this thing in their heads,"Oh I 'have to' play all the current stuff, straight down the line,no sway for remixes/bootlegs,its a certain ignorence to it,near moe so than some punters have,so a Mashup Booty is just what the doc ordered many are warming to them simply because its different!Obviously many bootlegs cant be slapped rite in the middle of a set but as a warm up i do 30 mins and many people have asked about them as to where they are available, obviously it DEPENDS on venues but jocks tend to forget their are many Commercial extremly well put 2gether bootlegs that WORKS,Ok i wil lf**k up now,no doubt sum1 will throw spanner in the works, hmmm I wonder who it could be hang on hang on!er er em....:P

no offence to those who like it but that groove armada one is a tad bit woeful. It does nothing for me. it just sounds like the "shakin that ass" sample place into he other track over and over again. pretty crap alright!!

personally, i'm a big fan of mash-ups and thats just a list of some of the better ones i have been playin, they are creeping into the charts a fair bit with tracks from the sugababes, lmc vs u2, speedway, alcazar and michael jackson vs the jungle brothers all starting out as bootlegs. but i don't think it will get any bigger than the odd track here and there, there are some very talented people making bootlegs out there, (the guy who did the original remix of call on me is a top bootlegger), making some great tracks, but there are also some horrible ones floating around as well.

i think it works well to through in the odd bootleg to mix it up a bit so ur not playin the same tracks every week, it makes it less boring for djs i think

anyone see the jay-z and linkin park mtv ultimate mash-up show on mtvbase last night, i thought it was very good, well definetly be picking this album up when it comes out

found this review of it

Review: This works - Linkin Park sound almost mellow mixed with Jay Z's hard edged lyrics. Rock and rap done well is a match made in heaven - you only have to go back to Run DMC and Aerosmith to know that a mash up between the genres is what it takes to make both sounds purer and fresher. Linkin Park rasp out the chorus but more toned back then the majority of their tunes. Jay Z just sounds like Jay Z - rhythmic rap a la Eminem with a phatter voice.

Jay-Z and Linkin Park release ‘Numb/Encore’ as a single on November 22nd as the first material to be taken from their hugely anticipated album release ‘MTV’s Ultimate Mash-Ups Presents Jay-Z / Linkin Park: Collision Course’ which follows a week later.

Produced by Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, ‘Numb/Encore’ is an awe-inspiring interpretation merging hits from two of the most dominant names in rap and rock. The original version of ‘Numb’ was one of the biggest singles to be taken from Linkin Park’s massive second album ‘Meteora’ whilst Jay-Z’s ‘Encore’ was originally featured on his landmark release ‘The Black Album’. ‘MTV’s Ultimate Mash-Ups Presents Jay-Z / Linkin Park: Collision Course’ will be available in cassette, vinyl and an exciting DVD/CD double-pack. The DVD features an exclusive live performance recorded at Hollywood’s Roxy Theater on July 18th. The revealing documentary also goes behind the scenes to witness how two gargantuan forces of music worked on their collaboration.

The CD features studio versions of the same tracks, produced by Shinoda. Says Shinoda about selecting the songs that would be melded, “We picked the songs based on tempo, key and vibe. Most of it was pretty obvious to me - the songs just told me which ones should go together.” Based on early response, the pairings are perfect; the real challenge came while re-recording the tracks in the studio, most notably the vocal tracks. Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington says of the experience, ”The biggest challenge in recording some of the new vocals was singing our dark lyrics over Jay's music. Some of his songs felt happier than our songs - which made for a different attitude in our vocals.” Between the pair of them, Jay-Z and Linkin Park have sold over 40-million albums, ensuring that ‘Collision Course’ will be one of the hottest releases of 2004.

Hey guys,

Which site is the best for getting hold of bootlegs ? I play some of these out, have to say most of the time the crowd seem bemused! Few are worth playing.

WayneScales

Thats the thing you have to be very careful into what bootlegs you play and above all make sure they are commercially sound to play, i.e (Kelis vs Michael Jackson,etc..) I gotta few similar and I usually get away with it!

Bryan Adams vs Deep Dish - Flash 2 U

Destinys Child vs Robin S - Lose My Love

Both excellently mashed up bootys!
