Fo the past year i've been tuning into a American Tv shopping channel called " Shop America" that apparently broadcasts from the UK. This channel sells everything from Memory aids, to weight Loss programs to speed reading techniques. Fair enough you may say.
Here's the score: Kevin Trudeau is the main TV Presenter/Anchorman - Marketing/Sales Guru for that network. He promotes everything via with a price on the left-hand side of the TVscreen, suggesting to the viewer that i if one doesn't ring up now, his special offer of for example £29.99 sterling for the Atkins Weight loss diet program, will be immediately increased. An old ploy in the sales game.
Anyway, i question the ethics of this man for the simple fact. He apparently was heavily fined a number of years ago in an American Court by the FCC ( Federal Communications Commission) for making a number of exaggerated claims about his products. In other words, he was saying to the viewer, this product will change your life for good guaranteed. A guarantee is a pretty strong word to say to quite gullible people such as people that are overweight and are looking for a cure to lose weight. Apparently, his products never lived up to their reputation of been a life changer. Of course there were a few average results with some people having tried his " Mega Memory" and Atkins Weight Loss System Program" I guess these people were paid to say that. A commerical Presentation they call them.
To cut a long story short this man Kevin Trudeau along with his colleague Ken Wright was ordered to pay a substantial amount of money in the American courts in 1998 for the very reasons that i outlined above. He was made to pay in excess of$1000,000 for his false and exaggerated claims on bluffing to consumers.
For me, i purchased the "Mega Memory " program. Has it worked? NO. My curiousity was merely due to been generally sceptical about American Marketing Guru's such as Kevin Trudeau in the first place. I guess to relieve that curiousity, i purchased his product to see the result. I'm not surprised at it not working. I guess anything for these marketing people to make a fast buck out of the TV Consumer.
