Is this the start of a summer of Raids ???

Today I had visit from the ODTR I wat told that I was Interfering with Air Traffic Control at Dublin Airport.
I ceased broadcasting at once. But is this that start of something bigger ??????

Watch out All !!!!

There out to get us all !!!!

If somebody putting out 5w can be raided then Phantom Kiss Freedom and All of us may watch out .............

Soulman,
where did you get the transmitter that u were using which resulted in this air traffic control interference?

Can anyone confirm whether you were causing interference?? How would one go about finding out whether one was causing interference? The ODTR seem to slap this complaint on alot of operators?

Just to fill in a few blanks:

1. Big sprog up around 118mhz would have been Magics problem. We won't even mention the bad choice that 107.1 was in the first place.

2. Yes, of course theyre out to get all pirates. It being their job and all that. That being said, while radio is in such a mess and so many markets are uncatered for and listeners disenfranchised, its a losing battle.

Tell us more about the "summonses" that the Limerick site owners received. Were they the same letters that Dublin site owners received or have they gone a bit further this time?

If they are summonsing landowners etc then yes, stations will suffer and will probably go from being fairly responsible operators with well equipped mountain sites and links to being far more subversive operators using far lower quality equipment and probably causing far more problems (witness Magic today). Go figure.

I would be interested to know who made their TX..
Presumably a Veronica.co.uk job!.. Not the cleanest of things

Soulman i would certainly hope this is not the summer of raids however, if you were interfering with air-traffic control then what do you expect, i have no doubt your intentions were simply to set up a radio station but if you were interfering then it does noboddy any favours, the guys behind phantom/freedom etc are extremly careful not to thraed on toes but unfortunally when incidents like this occur then everyone gets tarred with the same brush.

I would agree with mister807 in saying that it is better to have 3 or 4 big clean pirates than 10 smaller stations causing havoc with the airwaves so i would'nt be as quick to place all stations in the same bracket.

Can midwestman please elaborate on the summonsing of all the limerick pirates. The land owners of exactly which stations have been summonsed? Is this the next step in a long line of steps taken against RLO, Galtee, and NCW or is it a new clamp down which is designed to get at all pirates, ie. have estuary, cross rhythms etc all been contacted too?

Can someone from any of these stations verify whether or not they have actually got a summons and if they have what are they doing about it?

Well, Soulman, you can't say you weren't warned...and now you have been warned. Your ridiculous frequency choices have caught up with you at last. I hate to see anyone get raided but at least now we don't have to worry about you interfering with legals and risking everyone being raided.

Galtee , RLO , Crossrythms site owners have already recieved summons to appear in district court in Shannon on July 12 or Limerick on July 24 .....

At the if they plead not guilty , they will be given dates for a full hearing

The transmitter was plugged into a cb aerial 700mhz 75 ohms feeder
how it even worked is something god can only explain it also drifted
all over the place (poor battery incorrect voltage used)instead of
regulated power supply + no limiter compressor with poor mic and loud
audio need we go on with the frequency chioce nearly twenty of them
all poor chioces. If that isn't a good reason to raid what is.also
situated in Beamount very near airport and quite high so is the aerial
CB aerial the swr must of been as big as some of rtes 25 kw txs but
this was only 4 watts amazing anything over 50 watts would have exploded.
