anyone do anything substantial with DRM yet? Not implemented in Ireland yet but gaining popularity in Europe, it's on the horizon.

Basically, it's almost CD quality music (with data also) on the medium and shortwave bands. It uses OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) which has inherent robustness against multipath and Doppler fading effects

That means that you can drive around a city with a DRM receiver in your car and you shouldn't experience fading or flutter.

worth listening to the samples from the DRM sites

while you're searching, have a look for 'software radio' also-might interest a lot of you too
:D

Ive got a couple of receivers, a modified Ten Tec 320 and an Elektor homebrew - the actual demodulation is done on the PC
I have the Merlin (FhG) decoder and a DreaM (open source software) Receiver - The DreaM locks up better, but the Merlin gives better quality, and does stereo too - the Dream is only Mono and doesn't implement the SBR top end enhancemnt. Its still better than atandard AM qwuality though, especially compared to fading shortwave - although I must be a bit twisted - I quite like listening to AM !!!
