Ahhhh those were the days.

Remember the jingle THE ONE AND ONLY ONE FOR YOU...COUNTY SOUND then footsteps coming up the stairs, 3 knocks on the door and BIIIIIIIIGGGG SAAAAAAAAMMMMM. Thereafter, 3 hours of great chart and classic rock from the guy with the big voice.

How many DJ's can you remember and where are they now?

County Sound in Mallow used those jingles, at least until recently - I think they're now using just a v/o call sign of "103FM" with the occasional tag of "County Sound"

The jingles you refer to have been gone for years from 103FM County Sound. Their sister station 96FM never had jingles, so I suppose they wanted the same policy on County Sound as well and removed the jingles!!
The jingle package was originally from County Sound in Guildford edited to suit.

thats correct, but the general public in Co.Cork still prefer to refer to the station as 'County Sound' (rather than '103FM')

True 021 - what I meant was to emphasise that they don't use them anymore.

CS Galway was originally based in Tuam, wasn't it ?

It also begs the question - WHY the obsession with "FM frequencies only" names and non-singing jingles ?

I know there's some relevance re "brand awareness", but it's a little backward when we finally get RDS so that our radios don't have to show just the frequencies, and then the stations set the display to just the freq again!!

BE ORIGINAL and get a name! And bring back the singing jingles before I'm forced to play the JAM song in a fit of nostalgia!

Yes I hate it too but as long as the majority of radios dont have RDS were probably stuck with it.
