I see that TCRfm are now using WABCfm103s old freq of 103.9fm in the North-west area sounding good.. What happened to 106.8 and 107.9fm... When is the North-West going to get a proper YOUTH orientated Radio station, We the youth of the North-West have been deprived of a youth radio station in this area..

TCR has been on 103.9fm for some time, but more recently have had signal problems, but maybe that's been sorted out and that's why you have picked up on that signal.
As for youth orientated radio station, the market for someone to setup one and become financially rewarding in some way is not there as its deemed by radio people to be covered.

Can anyone in the NW confirm the frequency/frequencies of TCR?
I've got a list of 6 frequencies but I'm sure they can't all be in use. I think they used to have three txs but what is the current situation? Frequencies and approx locations or coverage areas would be much appreciated.

They are using 103.9, 107.8 and 105.2... Also heard from sources in strabane that they are also using 105.8fm..

Disagree with frequencies listed.
TCR (Tyrone Community Radio) have moved their 103.9fm to 104.2fm due to interference they were having (so the trailer said)
Their 107.8fm is more 107.9fm I reckon (could be their link from studio to main txs, however as other threads have suggested Comreg is coming down on those using this due to interference to aircraft and others using 108fm and beyond.

As I've started this latest flurry of activity I feel I should make a contribution. I've read your news and now have a list: 104.2, 104.5, 105.2, 105.8 and 107.9MHz. It still seems rather a lot of txs for a station to operate. I have several of these listed rathr unhelpfully as "N Co Donegal".
Without wishing to lead ComReg to their door would anyone like to be a bit more specific about the areas any of these txs are intended to serve?

Quite a lot of tx frequencies, didn't think that many!!!
My guess is because they are serving quite a large area where mountains/valleys get in the way of good fm reception in that area, as they do attract requests from all over derry, tyrone, and donegal.
I would have thought a medium wave freq would have suited them better, but maybe the location of a medium tx in that area (rocky area) would be not suitable, hence all the lower powered fm frequencies, but I notice that since the move from 103.9 to 104.2 the quality of the signal has improved. A new TX perhaps?

I'm assuming they don't have that many! I suspect some are frequencies which they used once but have now vacated. They used to have 3 txs.

I wouldnt advise putting a VFO rig above 107.5 even a PLL rig shouldnt go above 107.8 unless
1) You are sure 107.9 is safe in your area (i.e. no airband stuff on 108.0-108.2
2) Youre sure you arent overmodulating (no setting levels "by ear" isint good enough)
