So thats an average of 3.5 mins a song, 24 hrs a aday, for how many years, at $0.007 a song, and who do we pay, and how much is that again...
Back dated until when?
Due on the 20th October?
and what is the cost of 3phase ESB these days, and their back dated retro active fees from 1988?
Hope the cows don't eat that cooker cable run in from the north./..
We could convert the Tower to a Tesla receiver, and get FREE ESB.
But maybe its better to wait for an SEG. thats free too.

NOVA and Sunshine DID pay Roylties, but I think they ended up having the money sent back.
KISS Monaghan paid royalties, but once Downtown yapped, this had to stop... yet they would scream about the stations not paying, and yet got them stopped paying!
Caroline in the 60s, had EMI and other record companies publicly state how nasty the pirates were, about not paying royalties, but sent BOAT LOADS of records out to the ships for them to play. (They were promptly thrown over board when they arrived!).
I think it would help the pirates case, if they paid out royalties, and if they were not collected, they should be paid into a Pirate Royalty band account. and paid in a lump sum.? As percentage of income.

The only reason the offshore stations threw the freebie singles overboard is because the payola checks hadn't arrived!! Both Radio Caroline and Radio London were notorious for accepting payola - as detailed superbly in "black vinyl, white powder" by Simon Napier Bell (he also gives very precise details on how he bought the Yardbirds into the charts in another book he wrote called "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me").
I think the MCPS people accepted money from the 80s pirates, but the PRS (whose job in this country is now done by IMRO) returned the money for a number of years. That being said, MCPS costs are tiny compared to PRS.

Well, Lordie Lordie, I am so glad we have never had anything like white powder records in the current industry.
I am so happy itsnever happened in UK Radio, Network, or Local.
I am sure it never happens here.
I am also sure that certain corporates have never used their "pull" to force songs, and I am sure the Charts are squeaky clean.
I'm sure. (To be sure)
