There is a station up North called Q101 (i think its affiliated to a group of stations in the North, but I may be wrong)

Anyway there's an ex-Pulse103/Hot107/Energy94 jock called Dara O Dea who left to work there some time ago.....

Anyone heard him or indeed the station and how does it sound, they dont have a stream so I dont get to hear it here in Dublin.

Anyone ?

Q101 belongs to a group called the Q Network, owned locally in the North.

Their headquarters are in Derry, Q102.9fm
They then got the license to serve Coleraine (the north coast) and opened Q97.2fm
Since then they have got the license to serve Omagh and Enniskillen, with a studio in both towns and its called Q101.

The guy you mention is Darragh Roberts who used to be involved with Fm104 I think in the background.

He is main breakfast presenter for Q101, on the air from 6am to 10am and also voices commercials for the Q network of stations.

As Q101 is new, they haven't got audio streaming on line just yet but it won't be for long.

An interesting one indeed. Whoever they have in his place I hope is temporary.
And the music when I listened at 7:05am this morning. Well I thought it was bed time again!!

The Q network have of course been taken over by Rivermedia, owners of 5,6, and 7 FM in NI along with Ocean FM and Kfm in the ROI. Most of the NI stations are now networked in the evening.

Since then, Darragh has worked on South East Radio, doing the breakfast show. Then, he did a stint with Waterford Local Radio. He also had some involvement with temporary-licenced Premier FM at a management level, two or three years ago.
Prior to his current stint with 98, Darragh had done a bit of deejaying with
Q102 - the Dublin one!.

not often that a southerner 'gets' the Norn I way, but I used to listen to him on Q101 and that he served up a good breakfast. Always wondered where he had got to. Thanks for the update. Must listen to the 98 stream.. What times does he do?

jordanstown listener - what do you make of the q's now compared to before? To me, their not a patch on there best, but "old" Q102 is hard to live up to.

They're all a bit bland in my opinion Fion.

I do remember listening to Riverside 101, before they got the licence for Q, when I was up in Portrush a few times and they certainly were very good, from what I can remember.

I can get the current Q 102.9 on DAB here and 5 FM is reasonably strong on FM. I thouight they were all better when they were seperate entities. Still, given the current economic climate. networked stations are better than no stations at all.
