Simple question ...............
Im wondering has RLO stopped using their RDS for name calling since they sent in their submission.
It seems very strange to me that one day they are openly calling the BCI corupt and Scum and then they crawl with "Cap in Hand" asking for a licence from the BCI.
Are you now thinking Ger that you made an arse of the whole thing.
Is it fair to say that the people of Limerick are losing the RLO service because of the Boss and not the BCI.

3 or 4 months ago RLO rds used scroll ...
SAVE RLO ...STOP BCI ... SLEEZZE ...
Now it just reads Save Rlo .. They never called the BCI SCUM..
Interestingly Sile DeV got the boot from bertie , so Radiofriend you job in TMR be saved .
Dermot Aherne is now in charge of the BCI and ODTR . The reason being the convergance between broadcasting and communications . Soon one will be a to broadcast a radio station over a 3G phone system or Adsl internet connection , so all fighting over fm and am licences will become . I forecast you will see a liberalisation in the licencing of radio stations in the next 6-12 months . The BCI will become a complaints authority as opposed to a licence granting authority.
I see no "crawling" in the RLOAM application. In fact the RLO didnt even come off the Air.

They called the BCI "Sleeze" and not "Scum" thanks for pointing that out to me my MidWest Friend....Thats not as bad at all..
I sure the BCI will award RLOAM with a licence considering it was only "BCI Sleeze" on the RDS text and not "BCI Scum"..
And the fact that it was suddenly stopped and Ger Hannon stopped shouting about the BCI on his show and talking out of place about Tipperary Mid West Radio is crawling to me...
Over night they just think that everything they have done can be forgotten?...LOL......................
Whatever......

If they dont want RLOAM who do they give the licence to ...
Either a)
The Christians who already do 3 hours a week on RLO and dont want any more time at the moment .
b)
Joe Harrington who was canvassing for Martin Ferris in Kerry and who had his house searched in the good old days when the cops were looking for Dessie O Hier in Limerick.
His broadcasting experiece was one show a week on "Pirate RLO" , in which himself and his side kick Joe the Kerryman Quill continously knocked them self off and cursed into open mike.
Neither Maddens sales people or Joe himself couldn't get the show sponsered for 50 Euros a week and now he expects to generate enough income to run an AM Station.
It will make an interesting Oral Hearing . Madden could call O'Keffee a liar a public in front of the commission .

Out of the three Limerick AM applications, Gerard Madden's RLO AM is not going to the oral hearing stage.
Any comments!

Why did Gerard Madden try for the am licence and spend all that money and then put that up on the rds.
Can someone explain that logic.

Can someone seriously expect RLO to qualify for a license ?
Yes, there are a few people there who know their stuff, and sometimes the illegal aspect means they can comment on some issues without censure, but far too often the station is unbelieveably crap - poor audio levels, crap V/Os and in-studio sound, interference on mics and phones, etc, and some presenters who can't talk, can't read notices without fluffing, and don't sound anyway decent.
Maybe I'm being unfair on some of the above counts - maybe it was the ODTR action that screwed up their equipment and setup, so maybe a (re-)licensed RLO would be better, but if they want to show "what they could do", surely being on air gives them an opportunity to do it ?
Aside from that, they have created too many waves with the "BCI Sleaze" RDS, etc....can't see them getting a license....which, when all is said and done, probably leaves a lot of the old folks in Limerick worse off.
Note to BCI : Limerick needs 2 more stations : one non-top-40 /classic rock etc and one country & Irish + talk for the old folk to ring in to.
