Budget of about €10,000 and i plan to set up in about a year or two. Im buying things as i go along.

I was posting to swap MP3's on the forum so that i could have as big of a variety of music as possible (to suit everybody).

I want to broadcast to dublin but the bandscan is abit cluttered.....see how it is in a year or rwo or what was even suggested to me was.....

Well i study computers and i could broadcast to cork from dublin via live streaming to the transmitter set up in cork city......bit far fetched but Dublin is were i want to broadcast to......

Any advice, information or comments appreciated.....

Cheers....

For this you need ISDN or ADSL in both locations, and a suitable codec - good one is Audio-TX Communicator - See Broadcast Warehouse website for details.

This is very expensive, but I believe you can get "Cracked" versions of the software on the web.

Quality is excellent - this is similar to what a lot of legals use.

Aside from processing you're gonna need a transmitter (200W reccomended) and suitable antennas - 3 or 4 element yagis, stacked for high gain, and directionality if you're outside your TSA, or a suitable di-pole or Sherman dipole arrangement if you want omni-directionality.

If your TX is in the heart of your TSA, then circular polarisation is a good way to go, gives better saturation and will reach ANY radio.
Not a lot of good if you want a range of about 40 Miles!!!

A good PC auto system is Raduga, but there is also Otsjuke and others.

You'll also need a stereo coder (if the optimod doesn't have one on board), and an RDS encoder, from BW, or I can supply these at low cost.

Then you need studio equipment, unless you're going automated.

At the very least you need a microphone, and headphones.

A Clock sync program for your PC is a good idea, and a satellite receiver, or a tuner for news feed from another station - ONLY ATTEMPT IF OTHER STATION'S NEWS FEED TIMING IS REGULAR.

IRN is good in UK - Not good for Eire though...

If you want MP3s - I have hundreds of recent chart/dance/pop, which I'm willing to share with anyone who wants them - MP3 CDs, saves a lot of downloading - all high quality.

I also have jingle packages in MP3 format - Sun FM, Kiss FM, The Beat, KTU, B-100, Zee 100, DTR, Cool FM, Magic 102, WODJ, and many more...

I can produce jingles also (Sweepers)- low pricing specially for pirates!! - American V-O - any format available by MP3 or CD.

A good investment for any station is a radio controlled clock - about £10, really worthwhile - but many stations overlook this.

A good quality mixer is important - try JB Systems, or Numark - Big Budget then go for an AEV broadcast desk, with a telephone hybrid, or a cytronics.

-- Also remember when choosing a frequency - you must be at least 300kHz from any other station to avoid interference.
