Shame that this idea hasnt taken off in the nostalgic section.
The idea is that everyone posts memories, djs and dates for stations gone under a different letter.
Can we move onto F?
Any one any stations and memories?

Like Fr Jack I am struggling with F stations. Logged onto the Dxer Archive site and only found an FM100 listed from Monaghan but no dates or other information.
There was a Future FM in Mayo. Is that still on air?

There was an FM100, very low powered pirate based in the north coast which was on in 1993, every Sunday evening for a few hours with live dj's and some recorded programming. But it "went off air" when the DTI were a few blocks from them. They had someone looking out for the big van!! When they seen it, they grabbed tx and ran like F***

FM 100 was run by Lawrance John, from the late Frank McCarthy's K.I.T.S. (Kiss Intelligence Transfer Sequencer) studios, in Monaghan town. Frank used the station to test various the designs of some of his transmitters, before perfecting the design and selling thm under his "CASP Enetrprizes" company.
LJ used FM 100 to run the Campaigne for Music radio, after the BCR Licence fiasco in Belfast. FM 100 used my B-96 (Belfast Pirate Radio -B96) studios in Belfast initially.
Large Black posters, with a simple "FM100" were fly posted around Belfast, but the signal was never strong enough for a Belfast listener, and no one was able to get access to the KISS 103.7 site for many years (until Energy 106).
I still have a few recordings of the station before it finally dwindled off air, in early days when 254 Khz started up.

Yes Brian O'D you are spot on regarding the North Coast "FM100", but had nothing to do with the one Lawerence John was involved with.

The legal, Finglas Community Radio, ran for a few years during the early 90s from the Finglas Main shopping Centre. It closed and was never replaced.

I don't think it was called Finglas Community Radio - I thought it was "9-7-11FM" - but hey!! I'm a southsider, so north of the river is a big maze to me!

DeargDoom,
I believe you're right.
Something tells me, though, that there was a Finglas Community Radio at one stage. Can anyone help out an old man who is having problems with his memory.

There was indeed a Finglas Community Radio in the early 80's (1981... I think) with connections to a local record shop in the village which also used to be mentioned on Peter Gibney's Radio Caroline Dublin (late 70's MW weekend station).
I have a recording of FCR somewhere in the pile with Mike Doyle on air. Mike later went on to found Radio Annabel with Richie Mc Dermot, both of whom also worked with ABC 312 MW from the Ivy Rooms Hotel on Parnell St.
I must dig out the Finglas tape and give it an airing on The Anorak Hour.
