Hot FM (Dublin) using a Behringer Ultradyne. I'd prefer listening to white noise than that! Far to much bass.

Energy 94 (Dublin) using an Orban Optimon 8100a. Doesn't sound as good as it used to, it is overmodulating everywhere!

Club FM (Dublin) using a Behringer Ultramizer. Sounds shite! The audio is far to low on it.

Freedom 92FM (Dublin) using an Omnia 4.5. The best sounding Dublin pirate on air. Although the Omnia doesn't have the respect that the Optimod has, I think it does itself justice and proves that you can get it sounding great!

106.6FM (Belfast) using the Orban Optimod TV 8182a. Personally I don't like the way it sounds one bit.


Any others I've left out? I want to hear about ones all over the country.

well down here kiss fm are using a dspx unit ..nd the sound is brilliant!!

although recently the new nrg kits with a good soundcard the sound is comparble 2 say the least.:)

Are any of the stations in the original post still on air ???

Admittidely audio processing is not something Id be an expert on but I think too many people are fixated on the idea that
"Station X is using Compressor Y

Station X sounds brilliant/$h1t€

Therfore compressor Y must be brilliant/$h1t€"

But of course it the Studio gear feeding the compressor is shite then it doesnt matter how good the compressor is your audio will sound $h1t€

If anything a good compressor will exxagurate and highlight the $h1t€eyness of the audio going into it
