View Full Version : End of a mainstream Dublin clubbing era

Well, it doesnt get more mainstream then Copper Face Jacks now does it?! Last night saw the member known around these parts as Boston Barney finishing up a 7 and a half year stint in the busiest nightclub in Ireland of the past 10 years - to last that long in a venue and still get a thousand plus people every night will take some topping.
CFJ's has it knockers (and some of them were looking well last night!) but there's no denying its success
Fair play Barney
KJ (still feeling a bit ropey from those vodka's and cokes but I *think* it was a good night ;))
PS - some very well known radio jocks have been seen DJing in there recently - only time will tell if they will get the same kind of numbers

I dont think it matters who jocks there , it's an established venue so any dj with a bit of common sence or ability will know how to treat the gig .
2 DJ's taking the gig are 2 of the best around Kelly so i dont think numbers dropping is up for question , and im sure none of them would have the balls to play 'Garth Brooks after Faithless so i reakon it should be a doddle .[lol]
Yes it is a great venue , no question mark over it's success ,im sure it's in safe hands
Iano .
Just an opinion dude .

Not denying the ability of the jocks now in place there now (I never said it anywhere in my post), merely wanted to give a thumbs up to Boston Barney for what he's achieved with the place. I just feel every DJ has their own following (shame they're not all voluptuous groupies) and Barney is going to take a good few of them with him
This is *not* a bitch thread - its a thumbs up to a great night last night and the end of a 7 year residency in there ............... end of story man - thats all I wanted to say

Ah yes the end of Boston Barney, but was in Coppers last night and The legendary andy preston was on. The place was quiet to start off for, but by 12.30 it was kicking and andy in his usual style got the party started!! Music was great, requests flowed as usual and everyone had a great night. Well done andy, and thanks for a great night indeed(Including the slaggin off!!):)
Possibly see a residency i hope!!
Also i dont think there was much of a different crowd. I Know it has been said boston Barney will take his crowd with him, but was not the case last night and i think the legendary tuesday night will continue, with or without barney!!

I never said you were Ian - did you read the same post I did? Im very "chilled out" (again, the point of this post was to praise Barney, nothing else) - it seems, more often then not, you get your knickers in a twist over very little
Peace man ;)
Best of luck to the new DJs in CFJ's

From what I hear the 'well known radio jocks' appear to be getting on extremely well with an increase in numbers on weeknights.
That old saying comes to mind - "No one is irreplaceable"

Popped in there on Thursday night , had a ball .
Music was excellent and the athmosphere was savage , and good to see Niall hasnt lost his ability to mix .
Niall, Adrian , Dave , Jeremy and Bob will keep the place kicking for some time to come .and the owner seems to constantly have a smile on his face .
