A true sign of our new government dictatorship reared it's ugly head again this weekend as another Dublin Club was closed by the Gardai last night ,enforcing their prehistoric rule on happy weekend clubbers and sending them home long before time .....
Although it should be fun to see which of the 2 clubs in the area wins the battle for customers and survives Sundays clubbing laws .
Iano ......You can talk to the government and view their new polocies at www.wearekilljoys.finnafailthepeople

Ah God bless Inspector Quirke. We'll put an end to Dublins problems if we could just stop those crazy teenagers jitterbugging and doing the twist to this rock'n'roll nonsense.

p0x heads they are  :ranting:
i was in watchin the match there on tues nite in a place usually known as a Toys R Us spot, myself (23) and the bf (22) were sitting for about 15 mins when 1 of the bouncers came up to us and started asking for ID ????????? eh wha???
seemingly they have to go round askin "young lookin things" for ID EVEN tho we'd had to pass bouncers on the door to get in !??????
It was sooooooo embarassing and in fairness the bouncer fella was embarassed too, he was jus doin his job. Now maybe i'm just being paranoid but its like Dublin is turning into sumting like that film Judge Dredd!!!! I taut the whole idea of goin for a few drinks was to relax (now that we're not ALLOWED to get hammered!) I don't even drink but this pi$$s me off as much as the next person.
I jus can't believe we live in a nation that has allowed such backward attitudes to rule and such insane,big-brother style laws be forced on us all.
:swearing: :swearing:
Moving abroad has suddnly become a more attractive option than living in a paranoid kill-joy "police state" that i once was very proud to live in.

This is a capitol EU city yet we're moving backwards ........... it'll all balance out in the end when we set up a group to terrorise Mr McDowel (joke!)
Lisa - couldnt agree more ........ how's those ninja backflips working out for you by the way?
Turiel - Dont know, care less .............. standard Sunday clubs are a non-runner in Dublin from this weekend. Look for Vipers and Spirit to make a killing with their late night closing

lets not forget though that the long arm of the law are also big into shutting down those clubs as well.
I used to go to spirit every Saturday night last winter, and every saturday night there'd be a visit from the Templemore dimwits. They'd make sure we weren't f*cking like bunnyrabbits in the chillout room, they'd search the dodgier looking punters for yokes ("where are ya hiding them Dearg?", "they're all eaten up and in me belly actually, guard". Joke btw) and generally look like the right bunch of eejits that they are. The oinks used to sometimes even search punters outside the club. This wasn't to really find narcotics, it was just to intimidate clubbers and make sure they'd regard the club as dodgy. And in fairness to the busies, it worked. A lot of the girls I know didn't like going there, 'cos the presence of cops made them feel very intimidated. That and me wearing the same T-shirt for 6 weeks running.
Haven't been there in ages, so dunno if they still have the same trouble with the cops, or if brown envelopes have been handed over the way they so often are in this town. The business clout of MCD may mean our ever ready to assist the public police force may pick on easier targets.
Anyway, sure isn't it all great now that we can't dance during drinking up time. instead the lads get to nurse their 9 pints each (that they bought 'cos of the early closing) and stare one another out of it in total silence.
Well done Minister. You cabbage.

Hey guys,
Dont know if this is true, but i heard from an almost reliable source that spirit will be closing its doors soon. We all heard that the Temple was to close and that is yet to happen too.
On the more positive side of things, Dublin City by this time next year (probably earlier), will have at least another 2 nightclubs for us!!
Lets just pray that we dont get another 2 Zanzibar's!!

I'm glad to see that someone is taking these crazy ravers in hand. I think we should all give a big hip hip hooray for the Gardaí. By Jaysus back in my day if you were caught doing the Hucklebuck after midnight, Lugs Branigan and the boys would arrive in the Black Maria and clean house. Those were the days........(drifts wistfully down memory lane).

Another 2 Zanzibars ? lol Al .
If there are 2 more clubs opening soon , lets hope there run properly by people who know what there doing and not sleezy wa**ers who have dragged clubbing through the gutter in the past by ripping of DJ's , letting every skanger through it's doors , employing thugs as security and giving the rest of us a bad name .
3 years workin in the Temple bar area , havn't seen a fight yet Mr Minister .
Hey Maverick , whats the Hucklebuck ? [no smart comments Kelly or Dearg]

You don't know what the Hucklebuck is? Phew, it's safe to venture into Club M on tuesdays so:-)
Best to avoid Tamango though..... unless you're a fan of Picketywitch:-)

Don't be slagging off Pickety Witch! Ice Pop Daddy may claim to be a shit cool DJ but I've seen his record collection and theres an entire WALL dedicated to his Stars on 45 12 inches! And hes got a Dana poster hanging on the other wall!
As for Spirit closing .. I'd be surprised. MCD seem to be backing it up to the hilt - the club is now open 4 nights a week and they're running other gigs in there as well (Jack L currently plays Friday evenings before the clubs open for the repetitive beats crowd!). Its also becoming standard for any large artist playing an MCD gig to have their after show piss up in the VIP room in Spirit.
If anything, I suspect the cops would have more success in trying to take the theatre licence off them and force them to run as a "normal" nightclub. Then again, Garda harrasment was one of the big factor leading to the closure of the Tivoli. I believe they also took the theatre licence off the Temple (ha ha!).
btw - I was there a few months ago during its birthday celebrations. At one point we're on the dance floor and this raving lunatic is dancing beside us ... teeth grinding, eyeballs the size of mars and hes throwing his hands up in the air every few seconds and telling the world he loves us all. Yes, it was Robbie Wooton getting down and being as one with the punters!! Ya don't see Rog doing that in the Playhouse do you?!!!

A friend of mine just came back from Europe recently after doing a bit of a trek..and remarked that the various police forces command greater respect by the way they appear, and look. They are not ACTIVELY aggressive but any scumbag would think twice about acting like a fool on the streets with a few pints on him faced with the threat of several heavy looking officers in dark military style police uniforms, with proper batons, handguns and other robocop style gear claerly on display on their belts, and big f**k off boots to pin you down if you get awkward.'Micko' from darndale wouldn't stand a chance. Maybe they should do a police exchange program..?
Clubs in Europe continue to be open all night. Most decent citizens drink, enjoy themselves, and go home.
The wimpy Gardai and backward, clueless government and prize clown of Ireland, mcDowell should take note of this contrasting situation in neighbouring European countries, and maybe they'll get a little more support from the people of Ireland.
Otherwise bring on the elections people.
I'm sick of this governments knee jerk reactions to things including our trasnsport ministers gradual prohibition of cars programme....
