Who was responsible for this monstrosity of a chart today? It in no way was reflective of the big dance pop hits of all time. Example , bee gees you should be dancing at number 3 , kylie spinning around at 2 and ymca at number one. Who compiled it??

As any working DJ will know, most floor fillers were covered in the chart. However, York - On the Beach!??!? What the hell was that about? I havnt played that in years and it aint no floor filler!! I didnt hear the full chart but Im gonna check it tomorrow, just for a laugh!!
I was in my mates car for the top 15 or so of the chart and we just couldnt believe how inaccurate it was. Both of us gig fulltime and would never even carry York let alone have it as a "safety" tune thats a guaranteed floorfiller!
I placed a bet with him that Abba would be at the top and lost 10 Euros when Rick announced it at 5(?), it was at this stage I realised the chart was a shambles and said "betcha a wedding song like YMCA is at number 1" and much to my disappointment I was right.
Rick himself does some gigs and you could hear it in his voice that the chart wasnt a true reflection of what happens in commercial clubland, even something like "I Will Survive" (*shudder*) would have been a more credible (if thats the word) choice for the number one slot
2FM shouldnt really do these charts unless they research them properly (Example, Kylie's "Cant Get ......" is easily her biggest floorfiller ever (2nd only to “Better The Devil You Know”, the one they chose at 3(?) wouldnt even get a look in during a warmup set. Likewise the biggest Bee Gee's track to get people moving has always been "Night Fever" (to paraphrase Pete Waterman from his book "if you play that at a cheesy gig and no one dances - pack up and go home!")

Who compiled the chart?
Was it the public, or was it a few 2FM heads huddled around a table in the snug of the local boozer?
I certainly don't remember any advertising encouraging the public to vote in their top 10 or whatever.
If a chart like that is going to be credible or realistic (and especially on a national station), then they should at least take a leaf out of Channel 4's "Top 100..." book and get the public's vote on it.
Exactly Bren, there's no pre-hype for this specials at all, we happened to stumble upon it on the car radio whilst flicking around. No sign of the full chart yet on 2FM.ie
So glad you mentioned ''Better the Devil '' ...Kylie ....Ahh memories of 1990 and yours truely trying to be Mr cool playing the 12'' bought in Beat records .
Agreed , i heard the chart , not sure how they came up with YMCA , ..In the Navy '' was far better ..lol.

Ah Man!! Beat Records!! Across from Abbey Discs in the Abbey Mall?? Wow that brought back memories. I think I bought one of Greg Merrimans mixes in there.
"Better The Devil" is easily my fave Kylie song Ian. As far Beat Records?! As a Twentysomething year old I can just about remember the shop in the Mall.
Anyone else feel nervous around Tony and his 8 pound 12"s? ;) lol

No, but I'd be worried bout what dodgy remix of a track Derek in Abbey would try and flog you for full price. And the remix generally sounded nothing like the original. :)
"I'll have it for you on Tuesday"
That man could sell ice to eskimos ;)
