View Full Version : Why must promoters be so underhanded???

Why is it that some Irish promoters try and shaft everyone they possibly can! I reckon we (DJ's & Clubbers) should get a black book system going so when some promoter/promotion company decides its cheaper not to pay their DJ's at the end of the night other peeps know what to expect from them if they choose to work for them.

I was resident in what was one of Irelands biggest clubs for over a year, when the promoters checks started to bounce and my phone calls are just being ignored.

Now these promoters are still running events and bringing big acts into the country and putting on big gigs (no prizes for stating the names so dont bother)! I realise people can come on financially difficult or just hard times, but the least they should answer phone calls and let people know where they stand!

Anyway the point of this post is to ask other DJ's if they've had bad experiences with other promoters and suggest putting together a list of email addresses cause i certainly wanna avoid getting in this messy situation again! What do you guys think???

I agree 100% in what your saying Rob and i think i know who you are talking about, but what you fail to understand is , the people you are dealing with are not really interested in forming a good relationship with the people they employ and are only focused on their own profits and f**k people like you and everybody else .

Thankfully i dont have to deal with these type of people as im in the commercial clubs which is safer , regular and consistent .

Theres not an awful lot you can do regarding your money , because the person in question has one of the worst reputations in the industry , so maybe if John Fleming allowes it , we could all favour from exposing him on the board because if it's the same person i think it is , he deserves to be mentioned here so as to help Jocks from making the mistake you made and put this p**ck out of the industry because he's only a money grabbing thug ...

Iano's view on this Saturday night .....

I think the term "WAS" one of Irelands biggest gave it away. I mean there is only a hand-full of Big clubs in Ireland (for those of you still guessing think BBM awards nominations for big clubs) and then think which one is no more!

I'm not sure Commercial Clubs are safer than dance clubs, Cause dance clubs rely more on the DJ pulling the crowd, some commercial club can employ woeful DJ's and still get numbers in. So technically dance clubs should be more loyal. Just my opinion (works in theory).
