Well I got a sharp reminder of why i h8 the place!!wat a kip!!I rarely make a trip 2 the place....wud go if picotto was playin&went once to see joy kitikonti.Last time I went was picotto last december and push(MIKE)was supporting and he was amazing!!So last nite I couldnt help but head down 2 see the man in action again....al redmond and bryan kearney were on 1st back 2 back&played a brilliant set!!Orbit was not good and wud want 2 get 2 a record shop and buy sum new tunes!!
We arrived at 10 and so got in free as they have this new clubbing goes early policy in which if you arrive before 10.30 u get in free(in other words they were in desparate need 2 pull in the crowds)Id say there was about 200 pple in there max!!it was empty and was real suprised cos MIKE was playin who didnt play an amazin set and refused 2 play silverbath. The place was full of scum and i was asked abt 8 times in the space of an hour "eeeee do yaaa want neeeeeee yokes!!!!"there was no atmosphere watso ever and u cud have a full grand conversation on the dancefloor as the sound was brutal!!They over charge there drinks& the toliet walls r made of cardboard!!!then 2 top of the night in temple style the music stopped at 2!!!yes 2am!!!they've lost there licience 2 have it open l8r!!
supposely the tidy boys gig on june 1st is the closing party and I wudnt be suprised if this was true!!
I just dont see the temple lasting at this rate...... with marco v cancelled at the last minute but it turned out he wasnt even booked at all abt a month ago.Lisa Lashes played a 20minute set 2wks ago as the temple had 2 close early as the police were outside ready 2 raid!

Well there we go Lavish, I rest my case the temple theatre fills up with mostly scumbags every weekend hence the fact the truely dedicated clubbers despite the fact that they love certain DJs will not go. I think that with Spirit getting the quality Djs and cool crowd in and then the redbox/Pod ... temple is dying a death except for those who follow them shouting " EEEEEE anywun wan an EEEEE "

I was only ever in the place once and im glad i never had an excuse to return .
You must blame bad management and bad marketing on their part because the wankers who visit this poor excuse for a dance venue are not welcome anywhere else .
Its a pity because they have given the whole dance scene in Ireland a dreadful name and have given it a stigma which is hard to shake off. Personally i wouldn't p*ss on some venue owners in this country because none of them would know the first thing about running a club and would do anything to rip off clubbers regardless of the result .
I hope they open more places like the Temple , at least it'll keep the scum away from decent well run clubs with good management and sexy clubbers , and you wont get your handbag or car keys stolen .
Traffic ...now theres a venue worth talking about .
Agree with ya about the TT Ian, was only in it a few times and it was more then enough. Id love to say what I honestly thought about the main Temple promoter but it would be a case of a Mod been heavily moderated ;)
I say leave it open and let the moustache and sovereign ring crowd have a venue - it'll keep them out of the one Im playing at least

But if the temple does close down the thing Im worried about is that the scum temple regulars are gona find sumwhere else to go clubbing! The scum u find in there I can honsetly say I havent seen any where else so I just hope they dont decide 2 make there way down to the redbox!

To be honest don't think that they'd get in anywhere else, other club bosses and door men seem to be more selective. Ya need a Jaw Drop to gain access to the Temple

Lisa, just a few weeks ago you were giving out about the attitude of people on this board to clubbers. Perhaps you've come around to see things from our perspective?
At the time I mentioned that I wouldn't go near the Point for Godskitchen 'cos of the elements it attracted...you thought this was a shocking awful thing to say and lashed me out of it on clubbing.com (which you were perfectly entitled to do so, and it led to a really good debate).
The reason dance music has such a bad rep in this town is 'cos of venues like the Temple (and certain elements of its management ... ). I was in the temple last year and the ratio of fellas to women was about 80:20 ... all the young fellas with rat features and rat moustaches and .... no wait, most of the women were like that too. The last time I saw something that scummy was up in the rubbish tip in Ballyogan (however, it must be said that Ballyogan dump smells less that some of the Temple Theatre clubbers). Nope, I'm far from being a snob, but there was an air of sheer agression in the place.
Its amazing if you even compare the crowd that go to the r'n'b night in the Temple - its friendler, better dressed and less likely to cut your throat for a fiver. In the meantime the dance gigs down there look like a re-union gig for a young offenders institution.
As for the early closing though, it must be said that the guards have come across all puritan in recent months, and are doing their best to shut down any of the late night clubs around town. Temple is down to 2am as is the Tivoli. POD don't have a theatre licence, and the cops annoy the punters in Spirit most weekends as well.
(back in the 50s the priests used to tell us what to do, now its middle aged TDs and guards, good to know things have changed. Next standby for a curfew on Dublins streets, not to mention compulsory ID cards so that we can all be good citizens. Sorry - Miles Johnson type conspiracy rant over with now!).

Dont get me wrong I tried 2 ignore the state of the place around me but the temple is now I think worse then the Point as there was no atmosphere in the place watso ever!!In the point the atmosphere, lighting, sound, are amazing!!the temple has none of that!!Il only slate the point 4 letting in the tiny boppers but u ask ne1 that was at the last Gk and the crowd was alot better-still bad but alot better!!I knew b4 I went to the temple on sat it was a kip but it seemed the only place push(MIKE) was been booked 4 and as a dedicated clubber I wanted 2 see the man in action but was appauled by the place he had 2 play in&felt sorry 4 him playin 2 such a small crowd!!actaully felt embarassed wen he told us that he wud b playin infront of 12,500 pple in belgium nxt week& was there tryin 2 entertain abt 200 odd temple scum in a kip.

LaLaLavishland? Do we need a passport to go there? Or is it more just a state of mind?!
Never liked the idea of the Point as a dance venue - its too damned big ... but in fairness I did hear the most recent GK was a lot better organised. I still didn't go though!

hi lisa! I know lalaland quite well (I think I live there most weekends!) ... I was just buzzing off ya ya know what I mean like (story!)
I take ur point re creamfields and homelands, but theres something to be said for having a laugh in a supersize tent, whereas I have never liked the Point as a venue (sooner they turn it into a shopping centre the better!)
On a slightly different tack - are Dublins clubbers and nightlife lovers going to accept the Guards taking away every last bit of fun from this town? With that lovely Minister for Justice that we have combined with the brightest brains in Ireland working for Irelands police force (insert your own sarcastic tone of voice to that last comment) I don't think its gonna be long before we're back to going to bed at 11.30 on a Sat nite after the Late Late show is over. And quite right too - otherwise we'll miss the mass as gaelige at 8.30 in the morning!

cool!!sorry taught u were been serious towards me neway....
Well ur friend was right when he said that GK was better organised, think cos the time before that in october they were actually strict on ID which id never seen before so maybe the teeny boppers didnt try but it was full of more shud i say proper clubbers then your shwee story wha crowd but the lighting&sound was defo not as good but in all a gr8 nite.
I think the closing time for clubs in Dublin is a disgrace!!My brother lives in london and he parties on til at least 7am!!!spirit is the best we can get and im not very fond of it as its full of coke head posers who knock you about along with these pple who literally stand on the dancefloor sipping there drinks watchin the dj's!!GO TO A PUB 4 THAT!!!I like the layout of the place bar a few tacky bits but i dont know...you ask any serious clubber about the place and it gets the thumbs down which is a pity....cos it does book gud djs!!rarely go there but will be heading down 4 defo to see eric morillo unless im at homelands UK.
But yes the guards are really trying 2 take our fun...dont care about the temple because it should be shut and they tried to hold a fight club in it a few weeks but got raided=scum!
On paddys weekend the tivoli and the redbox were both stopped by the guards on the dot of 3!it was a sunday so the police knew the clubs would try 2 go l8r seen as it was a bank holiday weekend and they didnt have the licience to go l8r....so while i was dancing along to love story with tim deluxe in the pod the lights came on half wat thro&music stopped half wat thro the tune!!!uuugh!!!wreck the head!!darren emerson was playin the redbox and was askin the light engineer 2 put back on the power but eventually we were all pushed out!!mind you no1 budged til 3.30 as every1 was well annoyed as it normally goes on l8r...met up with mates who went to the tivoli and the same thing happened to them that the guards stopped the action!!!!the closing times are bad enough without the guards having 2 wreck our heads!!!
also an event Like GK should go on til all hours but no it stopped at the stupid hour of 1am like all point events!!

Hey Lisa,
I agree with you regarding the Spirit crowd. Its a great venue - but some of the punters really are wastes of space. That said, I find the buzz in there is getting better, the management seem to have gotten their act together in recent weeks. I head there most weekends ... if the coke head posers begin to totally wreck ur head just head down to the chill out (thats normally where I am with head in hands wondering what my name is!)
