This is gonna sound very sad, but mine would be The Grease Megamix. Starts very uptempo, then gets slower and has a good end, always gets a cheer. (For a wedding or 21st at least)

Who wants to have a go at making a dance mix of the national anthem :)

i've allways wanted to do that, and actualyy looked into doing it, but the copyright and format idea are actually owned by the GOVERNMENT!!! Go on Bertie ya raver. The Rights to do a dance version hav also been given by the government to a Well known dublin dj, but he cant do anything with it till they tell Him!! So there!

a dance version of this would be some DJs dream especially in Ra-land or rural areas. I was down in wexford the weekend before last and at the end of a night in the club they played this and everyone stood up with hands behind their backs - bizarre but obviously a common occurance in country areas!

well i'v heard Moré Canté - Yeke Yeke played to finish the nite once in there, fekin classic :D
suppose it depends on the nite thats gone before it but generally it's gotta have been led up to so if it were progressive i'd lash on a tribally progressive offering , sumtink that just goes further than all before it :D at the mo i'd pick Victor Calderone - the Drive .....................
or to absolutely implode the roof and cause serious numbers on the richter scale ... L.S.G. - Shecan .... OMG is all i can say!!!!!!!

Theme from Cheers??? That never worked when it was released but hey you never know . Although i dont think i will be risking that one.
As for Dido as a last song . Is it just me or am i thinking of another Dido " white flag " song .Hey its a good song but in a club or bar at 2:30am.
Ok im picturing the scene 1200 nutters locked jumping up and down to, umm lets say the Blues Brothers and then the DJ says

" Would ya like one more folks , would yah "

the crowd scream with excitement and the DJ says

" Ok here is a little musical treat for ya , its DIDO White Flag " !!!!!!!!! .

Can’t see that sorry.

AS recommend by someone else. Tom Petty - Free fallin'

then again it also depends where you are and what the situation is. Theres is loads of songs to finish the night with but depending on your DJing ability to read a crowd and play the right tune that will have them leave happy or leave the dancefloor half way through the song.

Some of the usual party favourites work, like greese megamix, frank sinatra new york new york, Jive Bunny!! Take that never forget, etc.

Just rembered did a party for a load of Galway lads at a rugby club. Played the Saw doctors - N17 as last song. That really worked!!

No, Darragh, thats "Catch Me I'm Falling" by Pretty Poison. Every now and then I'll leave them with "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by U2. Not really a dance floor song, but it gets them all teary eyed etc etc

ian would that be the version of think from the blues brothers, its so well produced and just builds and builds until the end. and take that always a good 90's choice, but according to certain members on this board i'm not up to doing decent gigs so ignore the above

Dlccr, would playing Damien Rice as the last song of the night not guarantee your entire dancefloor slits their wrists before its finished? ... Unless it was a funeral you were gigging at of course...

Who the f**k is Damien Rice ? Iano.

Voyeur

Iano, he is an Irish musician, very popular in America, very unusual style his music is kinda depressing .. hangover music! ;) Yes, yes I am useless at descriptions, but I do know I wouldnt appreciate hearing "Volcanoes" as the last song of the night when Im out on the tear! Gimme Beyonce any day...

Last songs??

Well Thats L'Amore does most nights,I often used Nelly the Elephant for 80's nights or Ghost Town, American Pie the odd night or We will Rock You by Queen always sees things off well. Mind you I have about 40 or so songs I often lead into the end of the night which makes the whole evening more that one song and silence. For clubby venues, the Santuary remix of Sarah McLaughlins Silence is massive, especially if the bins are tuned well.

I have to say this as it came up earlier,I gave up on the National Anthem ages back, I got sick of people shouting it, screaming, dancing, puking, arguing, snogging, etc, just not giving it respesct that it deserves. Anyone else see the same things?

Bohemian Rhapsody me arse!! 6 minues of that is panful especially in a discobar or club. Are you sure you have ever EVER gigged lol

Nah it's not a end of night tune just as Mickey by Toni Basil r Dancing Queen by Abba is; good pop off them tho just not say it in music
