They just gave it a lick of paint. The layout is the same. Oh yeah and they stuck a few planks to the facade. The wooden type that is.

Strange oul name for a club IMHO

Are the regulars that go there now going to be known as The Village People? :P

i believe its gonna be a live venue type place - an extension to Whelans in oppose to a club like mono was!

And is there any escape from the village? Fair play to them for naming a venue after one of my favourite TV shows of all time!
Who are you?
I am number two.
Who is number one?
You are number six!

i was in it on the saturday of paddy's weekend, only downstairs tho' - didn't see upstairs at all.
Not bad, much brighter than mono's downstairs - louder and much clearer PA than mono i think as well.

I don't drink so I don't know.

Hey all.
Went down to the launch on Wed. night. Nice venue - reminds me slightly of the Mean Fiddler (which was in the same location about 7 years ago). Punters were decent too.
MC for the night was that Hot Press plonker Stuart Clarke (one time Radio Caroline jock, now slags off pirate radio in Irelands staid rock fanzine!) - however the man had the decency to shut up and play the choons in the bar. Upstairs in the live music venue there were a variety of local bands playing - some good stuff.
Liggers? I'll mention no names but I bumped into some people I haven't seen in quite a while! And we talked! Amazing...
..anywhoo, long story short....nice place. And a good night. And I didn't abuse the privilege of the free bar. What do ye think I am? A blagger?!!!

Months ago the Village (venue on Wexford St) was mentioned around the time of its opening.
I was back there last night with a few mates. Quite impressed. We were upstairs in the main area (where the stage and stuff is). FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC music ... everything from Beck to the Beatles to 50 cent. Towards the end of the night they got into a lot of new wave/two tone/mod stuff. It was very unpredictable but worked well. The punters seemed a nice friendly crowd. Also ... not too many student tossers or Ming the Merciless lookalikes. Bouncers were okay but could lighten up just a bit - its not as if they're doing the door at the Temple for gods sake. Damned busy though. I'd recommend that you go early and stake a claim on seats!
We were next door at Solas before hand (It used to be called the Modern Green Bar). Only stayed for about 10 minutes ... but it too was quite nice. Very crowded but good tunes ... more rock stuff though. They played "Waiting for My Man" by the Velvet Underground and stuff like the Clash (I didn't see Ian Cribben hovering by the DJ box though!).

(I'd tell you more but I can't remember. I got up this morning, looked in the mirror and saw Ozzy Ozbourne looking back at me)
