After "auld lang syne" (the Slade version), I linked with a voice over, something about the New Year being a fresh start for everyone, and we should ....."always look on the bright side of life..." (from "Life of Brian), it went down a storm, everyone laughing and singing, great tune for that moment...:)

Last year I did Dropkick Murphy's 'Auld Lang Syne' cover. Was gonna go for the same this year but instead opted for something different. Put on 'The Final Countdown' in the few minutes before it which got the crowd up, then looped the intro for 'Barbra Streisand' for a good minute while I did some crowd work and the countdown. It hit 12, Barbra Streisand sounded and boom. We had a hot crowd!
