I'm confused, I can't recall ever being speechless, yet right now, I don't know what to say. Which to me makes absolutely no sense because I've loads to say, it's just that it's all over the place in my mind.....
Basically, take nothing for granted.
This time last year, through my own (drunken) fault (Christmas season and all that) I thought I'd had my cd's stolen. I had never felt so helpless.....for that hour or so, when the boss of the club I played in turned up at the bar I was also playing in ( I was sitting there depressed and wondering what to do),.....WITH MY CD'S and RECORDS!!!!The night before, I thought it was a good idea to leave them in the club.....JUST TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE (as I was in a slight state of drunkeness).
I never wanted something like this to happen ever again for real.
Last September (2 and a half maybe 3mths ago) I was going for a meal with friends before work, so I parked up, left my record bag in the boot of the car beside the strip of bars I work in (around 8pm) and off I went for the meal.
I returned at 11 to get the music....and the car was gone!!! STOLEN.
Anybody on the board who knows me should remember. To cut a long story short, I got the car back 4 days later, not 100% intact, but the boot hadn't been opened, so I got my music too.........HOW LUCKY WAS I ??!!
Yesterday I arrived for work early (wonders will never cease!) only to find my DJ booth had been ransacked. Everything was all over the place....except my cd's! They say bad luck comes in three's, well worse luck couldn't come a third time. My main caselogic had been stolen, the bar had been burgled.
What I'm trying to say, for God's sake don't let them out of your sight, and I'm sure one or two of you now are saying to yourselves, that f****r is only looking for sympathy....as if that would help me now! I'm trying to give you some advice. I thought they'd be safe in the bar I worked in. I play there 7 nights a week! Obviously not.
I remember when I first started in Pulse FM, the same happened to John Power, and I remember it happened to Vinny S. You have no idea how bad it feels until it happens to you, I swear.
Even if you're in town BUYING music, and your case is in the boot, DON'T leave it there bring it with you, where ever your going, be it Abbey or HMV, seriously, there's always some scumbag ready to get you, even more so this time of year.
I mean it.....BE CAREFUL!!!
All the best and Happy Christmas,
Tony Langsford. :(
