behind the track is DJ Vimto, who did the
original bootleg that became Toca's Miracle"

Sarah Whatmore - Automatic...
Not due to be released until Feb 2003 - just got leaked onto the net (www.mp3sfinder.com - I think). I've heard fantastic things about it - should be big.
Nelly & Justin Timberlake - Work It/Air Force One
Due out towards the end of Feb (week starting 24th, I believe), this should be a pretty big hit - kind of like Dilemma, but, well, not as irritating.
And finally...
Melanie C - Here It Comes Again
Well. Her comeback. Was supposed to be here by now but she got a bit... well... plump and they decided to stall. Will this be a flop - or will Mel C go on to be the only Spice Girl with a decent solo career? Only time will tell!

Now I'm confused. Is the next Justin Timberlake release not "Rock Your Body", rather than Cry Me a River. Spin have been playing Rock Your Body, and listening to the 2, its much better!
And whats the next Jennifer Lopez one? Spin have 2 on their playlist and I just downloaded another one which claims to be her next release. Blah.
NoelRock
12th December 2002, 21:55
Cry Me A River is the next one, it shall be out on Feb 3rd...
As for your next question - well turiel, it seems obvious that spin is confusing you in terms of release dates - perhaps you should listen to a different station that actually plays stuff that is coming out? Just a thought.
Anyway, I think her next single is going to be that woeful sounding one from the closing credits to enough - no I don't know the name of it, I was crying by the end.
With laughter - I assure you.

Would you like to suggest a station? I'm thinking you've got BBC Radio 1 in mind... that is indeed where I get a lot of my info on new releases, but something irish would be nice!

Yeah but its not exactly dance music - it still has a very pop feel to it. Like ronan keating or westlife or something. Did I mention its crap?
Why does it seem like half the tracks being released at the moment are cover versions? Blah just leave the originals alone damnit!

Are all working DJ's not pissed off that punters want to hear the same crap over and over and over again ?
Surely the blame must be pointed at the media for lack of exposure of decent new music .

Are all working DJ's not pissed off that punters want to hear the same crap over and over and over again ?
Oh yes!
I dunno, something's gone a bit pear shaped with Dublin crowds this year. They just wanted the same shite over and over again, which is a bugger when you want to try and play a great new tune and they walk off the floor. What can we put this narrow mindedness down to as it hasnt been too bad upto now? And what's a jock to do if your gig is 4 or 5 hours long? Read passages of the bible in between songs they like?
Ho hum. Hopefully next year things will pick up musically as 2002 wasnt a great year for songs by any means. Anyhoo, we're going off on a tangent here, here's some more tunes to stick into your WINMX.com
Beenie Man - 'Street Life'
Lemon Jelly - 'Nice Weather For Ducks'
Justin Timberlake - 'Cry Me a River' (it IS his next single after all. Still prefer "Rock Your Body" to this)
Girls Aloud - 'Sound of the Underground' (This is going to win the Popstars Rivals thing in its sleep, actually a very decent tune - I know, I was shocked too!)
Together - 'So Much Love to Give' (One half of Daft Punk is involved in this. Very "One More Time" Very Housey. Very good)

According to the midweeks that'd be about right... but christmas sales are abysmal apparently this year. Pop Idol 2 is coming in Autumn you know... *Sigh*.
Daniel Bedingfield - Right Girl
This one is rumoured to be his next single from an album that has produced 2 #1's thus far - why this artist isn't being taken more seriously over here is beyond me.

Yeah I agree with Mr X. I'm sure it'll be big over the UK (i think it is already actually), but I don't think it'll take off over here.
If it gets anywhere at all, it'll be purely because of the knight rider sample. And yes, its been done before - Busta Rhymes Fire It Up comes to mind. Maybe there's another one too?

Call me a boring s@#' but, I have heard J Timberlake - Rock your Body been played on spin but I never heard them actuall mention a release date. And besides, if Spin decide to play "Rock your Body" ahead/instead of "Cry me a River" isnt that their choice or that of their listnership, all they say they're goin to do is play "New music first", which is really what they've done...........
Besides, Spin is starting to grow on me, not that you really care but there it is for you all to bash me with so now im going to run away scared like a little boy/girlie........

Oops I almost forgot, hotties it is........
1> Alison Limerick - Where love Lives (Northstarz Remix)
2>Rob Duggan - Furious Angels
3>Oakenfold - Prophet 1
4>Divine Inspiration - The Way (Friday Night Posse Remix)
I thought I posted these alreadt abouut three weeks ago but there they are again...........

23rd December 2002, 18:09
seriously, how many times can they release Alison Limerick -where love lives, I don't care if its the "bend over backwards mix" I got that tune on vinyl about 8 years ago, and I'm SOOOO bored of it at this stage
Merry Christmas all

T-Man - afaik (it looks like it anyway...) Rock Your Body may be coming out alongside Cry Me A River - also caught freedom playing it a few days ago. It seems likely.
Heard Spin playing it quite a few times now - plus they seem to be getting out of their habit that once annoyed me of playing a remix of every song... looking good.

Just to say that tune Mudain To Bach Ke is already huge in the RnB/Hip Hop scene. Played it last Sunday in Coyote and everone went nuts!
Sure the Night Ridre thang has been done before but it gives us somethin different, hence the success of missy with Work It and Cam'ron's sample of Mary J Blige's I'm Goin Down sped up in Oh Boy
MrRolo
28th December 2002, 23:18
Does it annoy anyone else how sometimes great tunes never do well in this country?
Muadin Tu Back Ke is a great track but how high will it chart? I felt the same way with Truth Hurts Addictive which i loved, it only managed no29 in the irish charts but was a top 3 hit in the uk. It got very little airplay in ireland except for the r'nb shows which i felt was a shame as it stood out to me as being different.
There are many more examples...
Some might argue that a song which does "too well" takes away from its success - eg. Nelly and Kelly - Dilemma.
Anyhow heres hoping Muadin Tu Back Ke does well!!!!!!
For the topic - my big tunes for early 2003 are: Together "So Much Love To Give" and Jaimeson feat. Angel Blu - "True"

Just because the internet has made the rest of the world more accessible, doesn't mean that the record industry has stopped treating different parts of the world as different marketplaces.
In America, they are sometimes six months ahead in terms of releases. Sometimes tracks get released there which never get published on this side of the world...and vice versa.
If Spin talk about a track release, they are referring to the country they are broadcasting to. Just because you heard different on the WW internet doesn't make you right and them wrong.
And the same can sometimes even follow for the UK and Ireland, so listening to BBC R1 will not necessarily solve that problem.
For people who work in radio Im amazed you are not aware of the way the record industry works!
Turiel
1st January 2003, 15:50
Oh I'm fully aware that different countries have different release dates and even different releases. I was just wondering what actually IS the next release. Its usually safe to go by Radio1's playlist, but as you said, that doesn't make it 100% right.
Wheatus
1st January 2003, 17:35
True enough lads. For example, DJ Sammy's Heaven was on R1's playlist back in March. The jocks were claiming it was soon to be released. I know this because I downloaded it from KaZaA at the time. And then we didn't get it in the shops for months!
For future hits see
http://www.allaccess.com
where you can hear the latest (and future) releases in the states in real audio. They have the full songs there too. Where the bigger artists are concerned, it's a fairly safe bet that if it's out in the US, the single will likely go on release here too.

Not sure of the history behind "Build me up Buttercup" but such a good 60's song (and a revival recently due to a movie) should be left alone.
One thing I would add was at New Years Eve gig I was doing, one 70's song which I have never heard on radio, but I had to play it twice and had several enquires about it once I played it as to "who sings that?" and "I have not heard that song in ages!!" was Liquid Gold, Dance yourself Dizzy. Thanks to GP (he knows who he is) for the help in getting that for me.
Liamo
4th January 2003, 21:02
Gotta agree - I just had a look at the Kiss 2003 CD....it reads like an 80s CD:
I wanna dance with somebody (i.e. Whitney)
Take my breath away (i.e. Berlin)
Hard habit to break (i.e. Chicago)
Forever young (i.e. Alphaville)
I think we're alone now (i.e. Tiffany)
AND (believe it or not)
Rhinestone Cowboy!
I know I've whinged about this before, but now it's getting REALLY ridiculous! There's always been some re-recording of older songs, but it's getting WAY out of hand.
Also, a Karaoke machine that we got for my nieces has the following gems (and the following is a quote from the CD cover)
"IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES made famous by RONAN KEATING"
I give up! If anyone wants an 80s disco where I can play the originals, give me a shout, but until there's some original stuff back in the charts I'm on strike!
Liamo
4th January 2003, 21:36
....oh - forgot to mention.....the remix of Bryan Adams' "Heaven" seems to be doing the rounds credited to 3 or 4 different "artists" but yet all sound the same as DJ Sammy's version....anyone any ideas on why ?

RE: KellyJones' question on the Rock Your Body/Cry Me A River co-release... it now appears as though they won't, Cry Me A River is scheduled for release on Feb 1 I think... whereas Rock Your Body is nowhere to be seen.
This, to me, seems like a weird move since general airplay has been (from what I've heard on a daily basis) split roughly 50/50 between both songs... it's only gonna hurt the sales from what I can see.

Not a single one on WINMX Noel, and - me been a closest Jacko fan - I simply have to have it. I'll check some other sources tomorrow
2 remixes gigging jocks will need
Justin - Cry Me A River (Jonny Rocks mix)

"Not a single one on WINMX Noel, and - me been a closest Jacko fan - I simply have to have it. I'll check some other sources tomorrow"
Awww we can't be having that! It took me 2 hours on WinMX/Kazaa to weed one out on Thursday night (albeit, in 128kbps form) - from what I've heard it is getting easier and easier to find...
Anyway, I'd be happy to send you out a CD-R of it during the week if you wanna pm me your address (that goes to anybody who wants it - to hear or to play :))
Latest rumours swinging my way are that this is going to be the theme tune for the Matrix 2... which would make it pretty big over here sometime in June or July I imagine.

Speaking of mixes which are good for the dancefloor, I heard a *really* good house mix of Nelly & Kelly - Dilemma while on holiday. Wasn't just a simple dance beat put behind the song, it would have been a good tune even without the nelly&kelly samples. And the vocals weren't speeded up to squealing level like other mixes. Anyone have any idea what mix it is, and where I can get it?
Some future releases:
50 Cent - In Da Club
Nas - I Can

Can Blue follow up the success of their recent collaboration with Elton John, or will this be more of the same old toss we heard in 'One Love' in their new single 'You Make Me Wanna'...? Time will tell. March 17th.
The choice of boys and girls ages 11-15, Linkin Park return with their second 'proper' album, Meteroa - and this is their first single from it: 'Somewhere I Belong'. Also a March 17th release date for that...
Who can ignore Girls Aloud right now? Their follow-up single to Sound of the Underground penned in for a March 17th release date and is titled 'If You Wanna Roll'...
Following up his two UK Number One hits 'Gotta Get Thru This' and 'If You're Not the One', Daniel Bedingfield is back with his fourth single from his debut album - 'He Don't Love You' is already tipped to be his third one by several DJ's in the UK... (March 24th)
Also other noteworthy releases coming soon...
Coldplay - Clocks
Richard X Vs Liberty X - Being Nobody
Pink - Eventually
Robbie Williams - Come Undone
Eminem - Sing For the Moment
Madonna - American Life

The Room 5 track from the Lynx ad (Make Luv) is just a revamped version of the 1983 soul classic 'Get Down Saturday Night' by Oliver Cheatham. It can be found on a lot of 80's weekender type albums. It is definitely featured on '80's Soul Weekender' on Dino released in about 1996. Great song!!!

Liamo,
The song that you are referring to is 'Spooky' by Dusty Springfiled. I can't remember who did the original. I will take a chance on an American group called 'Classics IV' (also known as Dennis Yost and The Classics IV). The song has been covered many times by artists such as Andy Williams and (my favourite version) The Atlanta Rhythm Section. The Dusty Springfield version is available on the Rhino Records Release 'Love Songs' - amazon.co.uk are selling it for stg£11.99.
Eve - "Satisfaction"
If this doesnt go to number one I'll eat my headphones
Oh and Tatu's new one is currently downloading - "not gonna get us"
