What the hell has happened to Fridays...?

Remember TGIF... not the restaurant, the office crowd going out.. the end of the week... the feel good factor.... the crowds ???

I was covering for a mate of mine in the City Centre last night, now I seldom go near the place so I had not been in the venue in yonks..

It's DEAD... I mean empty !!!

This place used to be wedged, now you can actually see the decor.. the bleak stark decor. It was the longest 6 hours I have ever put in....

Is this happening everywhere or just the City centre?

Oh and btw this is not a rant just a question....:o

It's everywhere that has gone to pot on Friday's, man. I did a 6 month stint in one city centre nightclub last year and 250-300 was an average crowd on a Friday; holiday weekends would be worse again. Saturday's held up okay in the same place but that was it.

And you should have seen how the other nights were doing:(

Mini I think this is the story across the country bud.Friday used to be a great nite, to have a gig on a friday now is good. Between the cut-troth Djs working for nothing and the few venues that are running getting in 70 to 120 punters its is fair bad. I have a good friend who runs a club he told me it costs him a thousand euros a nite to open the door, and needs 110 in the club to break even.

But for the wedding seen I would be very quite.I have found that its better to get 2 good gigs a week than 3 bad gigs because as you said it is sole destroying to be in a club to hours and have no one in. I have noticed fo late that the crowd on saturday nite dont come in til 1am so you have to but down 2 hours of tourture, and thats a Saturday.

The people are drinking at home first and comming out to the club then.The Pubs and Clubs left are under fair presure and many more will close there doors unless people start to get jobs.

Not good at all...

I've been doing a fair amount of corporate stuff lately, not DJing in fact , this is sound engineering for conferences and a lot of that is Thurs into Fri.

That has quietened down now with hols etc so i have been at a loose end on Fridays for the last few weeks.

The whole City seemed really quiet last night, I had 70 / 80 in at best and no buzz, vibe, athmosphere... and i thought maybe it was the lousey weather or maybe i hoped it was the lousey weather.

Obviously not.... :(
