Can anyone advise the Tx site and erp?
Have there been any recent changes, or is it just down to propagation here?
Thanks - J

Unfortunately BCI have taken their older applications off the website (it might still be possible to see it at the old IRTC site using the waybackmachine).
Anyway, like most Dublin stations, Newstalk transmit from Three Rock. I *think* they run 10kW ERP but I'm willing to be corrected on that.

As far as I know all Dublin ILR's run between one and five kilowatts ERP while the national services from Three rock (with the possible exception of lyric ?) are 12.5Kw each

That's close enough, thanks chaps. It's a fairly quiet channel here, but I haven't heard them since the propagation went flat.

Mike,
Just out of interest, why do you think Lyric runs lower power than the other services?

Under the Geneva plan 96.7 is for local radio and 98.1 for National Radio
However when Lyric were testing Radio 200 (98FM) didnt want to move to 96.7 for obvious branding reasons so RTE were given 96.7 instead.
Im only guessing here but I reckon the allocation at 96.7 is for 5Kw I could be wrong
I would like to know though why Radio 2000 werent given 96.7 in the first place (it was originally planned that they use 105.5 which would have caused even more problems)

Well spotted Mike. When I replied to you I had quite forgotten that Lyric are in the wrong sub-band.
I had a look at the Geneva plan today. 96.7MHz was originally planned ar 2.5 kw HP+ 2.5kW VP (5kw total ERP) in 1993. This was modified to 5+5 in 1999.
98.1Mhz was in the original GE84 plan at 6+6kW. I didn't have time to look at other Three Rock frequncies or the patterns. I might have another look if time permits tomorrow.

Sadly not; the fortnightly updates are on line but I don't believe the full plan is online.
Fortunately, I have occasional access to a copy.
