Some songs are really bad to say the names of on the radio. Like Destinys Child "no no no" and "Bills bills bills" or when Avril Lavigne came out and no one knew how to pronounce her name. Same with the new Big Brovas track. I think most people are just sayin Big Bro.

Can't wait till the new Gigi D'agostino one comes out "bla bla bla" Think we'll have to go for "triple bla" or summit. It just sounds so crap.

Nothing to do with the topic really, but what always amazes me is how songs do well purely because their artist is well known.

Bla Bla Bla was released what, 3 or 4 years ago? Yet when it gets a re-release in a couple of weeks I bet it'll easily go top 10.

Same happened with Ja Rule - Livin It Up. Released almost a year ago and nobody liked it, but now that he's done his 'duets' with JLO, it gets a re-release and suddenly its the best song ever.

I guess this is what they mean by pop culture?

pop culture is an accurate description tuirel and i suppose as working dj's we all depend on the HITS to get us through a gig nowdays , especially if your working in a disco bar or mainstream night club .
Only problem i have with Gigi Di Agustino is , his music only appeals to a certain type of clientel ,[ie ] the Story bud crew , a bit like Dj Sammy , goes down a treat but still a f**kin horrible tune .
JA Rule ?? i got it about 7 months ago and got a reaction but only at certain clubs . Its back to basics Turiel , as im sure your aware , unless it's a specialist venue , all they want to hear is HITS , HITS and HITS galore , old or new , it dosent matter as long as they know the song or tune .

Quite right george. I have to say, La Passion seemed to appeal to absolutely everybody - from the D4 girlies to the howya buds. I can still get away with playing it and keep everyone on the floor. His previous/next releases though are certainly less charty.

Another thing that annoys me is people who claim to love "funky house" or whatever, yet play a song they don't know and they will run off the dance floor faster than [insert analogy here]. The aforementioned D4 girlies are particuarly guilty of this. They all tell you how great r&b is of course. Play something thats not in the recent charts though, and they'll tell you to play some "good r&b". Blah.
