Why name a forum that contradicts itself?

How does it contradict itself?

The reason being my dear is that over the past while I have seen some very interesting Threads open up only to see them dissapear because the opinions being viewed were not condusive to what the majority of us were saying, It admittedly hasnt happened that much but when it has it deprived us of what was becoming a bloody good argument..........

There are many, and varied, reasons why messages are taken off the board, and most of them you couldn't imagine unless you've run a message board.

One reason we do remove is when a user joins under another name in order to pretend s/he's got more support for his/her ideas than is factual. I'm sure you'll agree that this is worthy...

Funnily enough, the reason you claim above is one that has never actually manifested itself - and although we've had station managers and djs get in touch and ask us to remove posts because they don't like them - unless there is good legal reasons for doing so, we usually don't remove in that instance.

Contrary to popular belief John It was a curiosity to me to see some posts dissapear but as you have pointed out there were obviously reason enough to do so, a ponderence you may take time to reply to............ Is it generall commonplace to remove posts to significantly relevant threads without informing the originator? Or do you actually get forwarded the new location?

Popular belief - no, actually not quite.

What is true is that a minority can make a lot of noise. And it is only a minority who have had posts removed, - the majority carry on without a problem. And the amount of positive feedback we get here far outweighs the negative.

The rules of the forum are stated quite clearly on joining...it is a constant source of amazement to me when members blatantly disregard those rules, and then act surprised and start abusing everyone in sight because they don't get their own way. I'll even go so far as to say that i've been threatened with violence, not to mention a death threat, because of events on this site...it is amazing how seriously some people take their posts!

Unfortunately, that minority have frightened off a lot of genuine and decent users to this site's board - and those from sites that preceeded it. In fact they've frightened off a quite significant number, some of which have made their way back thanks to the moderation here.

It never ceases to amaze me that anyone could give credence to the idea that we jump from post to post, removing certain ones for the sake of it, without good reason. There is ALWAYS a good reason, and instead of jumping to conclusions, an email to us - as requested since the site started - would outline the reasons.

In response to your final point - yes, it would be an improvement in the service to let people know, but to be honest so much time is already taken up maintaining these forums (so much more than you can even begin to imagine), not to mention the priority which is the main site, that to go down that road would mean cancelling any social activity too. I can only apologise for that inconvenience, but it shouldn't be too difficult to post to the correct forum in the first place.

I have to say one final thing on this point John and that is that I can appreciate the amount of hard work and unconcievable effort and time you afford to the site, I would also like you to know that altough I have only recently joined the party I have always been a keen visitor to the site for quite some time and will remain so.

I would also like to point to the fact that altough members (even past ones) may not log on that you will always enjoy their support for the forum and that indeed given time, they may even return to voice their opinions. However the minority may have been scared off there are still a lot of decent users who contribute a lot the forum a point to which you are all to aware.
