I have a question for those with a greater knowledge than me (which wouldn’t be hard) of the technical intricacies involved in TV production.

Has anyone noticed the recent change in picture quality format on Emmerdale shown on ITV? A quick flick over to TV3 and you’ll see the difference - it is still using the format hitherto used by ITV.

I remember somebody saying to me (too many) years ago that there were noticeable differences in quality between programmes because some were broadcast on film and others on video. Is this something similar, perhaps?

i think that is exactly what it is I noticed the difference as well but thought it strange it wasn't the same for Coronation Street, thus it couldn't be a change in the settings of thier out put.

i'm not sure exactly what it is as radio is my thang but just thought I'd let you know that your not going Mad

And I thought it was just me!The wedding marked the 30th anniversary of Emmerdale & the picture has changed from that episode.I have seen the same 'effect' before ,on Parkinson on BBC1 I think, but it reverted to the original quality after a few weeks.Similar to DVD.
