Half of songs

Hey all
I was out last friday in a certain club enjoying myself n getting drunk etc etc but it seemed everytime i got a chance to shout "aww i love this song" it was over? Why do some djs play half the songs? Its soooo annoying....especally when your waiting on a certain song to be played and as soon as it comes on its stopped literally not even half way through. Anybody else agree that this is really annoying? This certain dj started to play "kylie, come into my world" and me being a big kylie fan was very dissapointed when he played just to the first chorus. And that was going on for most of the night with most of the songs.:rolleyes:

Well, I think the idea is to kinda play 2 minutes of every song to keep the pace really fast. Can't say I recommend it though :)

Don't play intro's, don't play outro's. Mix out right after the outro kicks in. Or, if you can't mix it, cut it.

Another reason you'd play only 2-3 mins is maybe if you're running short on time near the end of the night and there's songs you just have to play. I used to do this but not any more. Maybe I just have more practice structuring my set now and play everything I need to play?

But to be honest, from your description Elaine, it just sounds like he's a crap dj :)

If you think about it he's not really playing the song - just a snippet so you don't really get to enjoy the song...

ok..... ive only been in the place 3 times n its not exactly a club... more a discobar thingy. Savannahs in rathmines. Oh god please say nobody here works there. Im sorry in advance if anybody does. I do generally love the music thats played...thats why its so annoying when the songs are cut in half. In my opinion its the music the makes a great night out (and the alcohol of course, oh and the men lol)

Seriously tho, it depends on the kind of crowd you're playing to. I used to do an (in)famous Dublin club full of mulla's, nurses and - well (what looked like) - farmers (wellies and smell inclusive) ......... anything more then 2 mins of a tune in here and you lost the floor, in fact - more often then not, I found myself chopping tunes in an oldies set after 90 seconds

In I can get deeper on this (oooeeeer!), I reckon people - in general - have a very small attention span in general these days
