what do frank kennedy and nicky from freedom got in common?

everytime i turn on my radio and fick through d channels i either hear an ad wit "superstar dj frank kennedy" or turn on freedom i hear dat bird nicky. last week i was listenin to freedom in d afternoon and she was on and later dat nite she was on again. does she live der? dat girl should have her own station! as for frank kennedy would it not be good to have 1 good station rather than a few shit ones?

Frank Kennedys biggest problem is ,he's actually starting to believe he's a superstar.
Most of the places mr Kennedy plays are not credidable venues and,'' he's hardly Pete tong'' now is he ?
I listened to his radio show on a number of occasions and found it quite amusing [not chris evans type amusing ] because it sounded unprepared , amatureish , old fashioned and all over the place . Maybe he'd be ok if he didn't use the microphone or try to mix because it proving to be a struggle for him at the best of times .
It proves what was mentioned in previous posts , pirate radio in this country is appauling ...

Nikki on Freedom to me sounds great and I urn to her and Mikey O'Brien in the evenings.

Frank Kennedy the self proclaimed greatest Dj in the world is not he worst to be honest - not saying that I like him or anything. He does sound unprepared and just throws on any old shite onto the decks. Some of the Djs mix live on the station whch is good (in small doses) but some of them can mix but not that well. The shite sound off the station doesn't help their situation either. The station has far too much bass - he should turn it down a bit or get rid of that Behringer processor and get an Orban or something.....

I've heard FK linking for over 5 minutes on occasion. And all that he was doing was reading out some requests then plugging all his gigs. Then, of course, 10 minutes later, there was an ad break once again plugging all the gigs.

Oh yes, and on one such link last week (or maybe the week before) he played Gigi D'Agostino - L'amour Tojoure and kept telling everyone that it was the Frank Kennedy remix he'd been working on all night. The "remix" in question was in fact a synergy (Gigi VS Darude) which I'm told by another DJ who was listening with me was just downloaded from the net!

Bottom line: Don't steal credit for other peoples work. Don't make yourself out to be someone you're not. You just end up looking like a twat. Except to the 10-14yr old knackers who love him of course.

As for Nikki, nothing wrong with being enthusiastic! Take as many shows as you can handle! Maybe someone's a bit jealous of the amount of airtime she gets... ?

agree totally wit u bout d frank ting! turiel i didnt say i was jelous bout nicky, i dont even know d girl, fair enough she is enthusiastic but too much of d same ting can get boring. i listened to the "youth" talkshow last nite and was fairly impressed. my point was dat i want to hear someting fresh on pirate radio and to be fair to freedom they have alot of good shows. e.g. al murrays rnb, ronan devitt. every1 seems to be just doing d same ting.

F.K proved everything below, yesterday at about 4.35pm he stated"its not o.k to make 999 hoax calls, because it is a waste of credit",he then played a hoax 999 call from the U.S.A and thought this was very funny:mad:
I can image considering the average mindset of his listeners that the D.F.B control room at Townsend Street is not very thankful:mad:
Did anyone else hear this directly or indirectly??????????
A SAD DAY FOR PIRATE RADIO METHINKS

Frank Kennedy is just full of his own ego. As for Nicky, I used to listen to freedom a lot, but recently I can't bear it. The girl isn't that bad, but it's becoming quite apparent that she doesn't recieve any guidance or direction about being on air. She sounds sloppy and unprepared most of the time. And most of the time downright annoying. The combination of her and Mike O'Brien doesn't work, and I'm surprised that it's been prolonged so long. Some of their links last nearly 5 minutes, and they seem to not really be saying anything relating to listeners etc. To me when I hear her It gives the impression that freedom are 1)either VERY short on dj's given the fact the girl seems to be on the radio all the time - and this really shouldn't be the case, I know a lot of people who are eager to get a bit of on air exp. 2) Willing to let anyone on air - I've already said I think she isn't that bad, but shes not that good either, she doesn't seem to have any idea of the ground rules of radio. 3) Not bothered about the overall professionalism of the station - It doesn't sound good to have the same people on the radio for extended periods of time, and if megahertz is to be believed, having one person doing 2 shows a day is just outrageous.

On another note, I think there are too many girls on freedom, everytime I turn it on there seems to be a girl jock on - given the fact that 9 times out of 10 it's Nicky. When its not Nicky and I do stay tuned the other girls aren't that bad, can't they dispense the shows more fairly. Between girls and guys, there has to be some form of overall balance.

Well that's my rant over and done with. I don't like giving negative criticism but I thought I was the only one who'd picked up on the Nicky Fm situation. And I really miss listening to freedom, when shes not on it's really a very good station.

i tink its good dat freedom give d girls a chance. it seems 50/50 wit d lads. i understand wot ur saying bout d 5min links, it sounds like ur listening to a conversation in a pub between mates. but der constant bickering on d air is sad.

Strange. Everytime I turn on just about every other station there seems to be a boy jock on.

Applaud Freedom for being different, and enough of the sexist remarks

I enjoy Freedom because of the female talent (;) ) and not despite it.

I will agree that sometimes her links are very long, especially when teamed with Mike O' Brien.

However, Freedom must be one of the very few stations in Ireland which has a lot of female jocks. Or female jocks with prime time shows anyway. Surely thats not a bad thing?

Radioboy, while I don't exactly agree with you on everything, you do make a very valid argument.

the slut - im not jelous of nicky or frank.

this is a forum which people can make comments about der opinions. ders no point in being in d public limelight(pirate radio) and not expect to recieve critisim and praise. every1 is entitled to der own opinion. wot doesnt brake u can only make u stronger. it was not a personal attack on nicky or frank it was just my opinion. in no way do i dislike either as i dont even know dem personally. but i hope i didnt offend dem in anyway.

Hi,
I dont want to start a fight cause there's nothing more annoying thatn having a text arguement (ever had one with you girlfriend/byfriend, NIGHTMARE!!!).
Anyway, I live just up the road from Freedom and I've grown up looking up to all their DJ's. They were in the same school as me and they realy built Freedom up from the ground. I remember when it was broadcasting to literally their road (and no further). They've come a long way and it makes me fell proud to live in the same area as one of the best (if not the best) radio station in Dublin. Well done lads, you've done a fantastic job.
By the way, I was in Nicki's class in 5th and 6th year and she couldn't be a nicer person if she tried. She really is as much fun in person as she sounds on air. Keep it up Nicki!! The majority of people think you're great.

Radioboy, i have to say you got me on the wrong day!!!!!

What's the prob with Nicky? She's sometimes kinda casual when she's on air - so what? If you don't like her why don't you tune to something like the shite on FM104 where the DJ's links are over-scripted n over-commercialized. Nicky's a breath of fresh air - I've heard her both on her own and with Mike O'Brien n i really don't know what you're complaining about.

Ok so what's this about too many female jocks? As far as i know there's 4 on freedom (correct me if i'm wrong) - i only hear 2 of them very often 'cos i usually only tune in in the evenings. All that's really asked for of a DJ is that they can do the show n entertain the audience - do you feel a lil' bit threatened by them or what??? Get a life mate!! With all the guys on the airwaves, it's a nice change to hear Nicky, Elaine n the rest of the gang at Freedom.

I think you're actually just having a rant at freedom? Am i right or am i right?

i don't think any of the djs on fm104 sound scripted! in fact i don't think any stations apart from some rte radio 1 heads or talk show hosts to a certain extent are. you don't know much about radio do you? any not to mention shooting yourself in the foot saying it's wrong to slag a station and then you go and do the same????

When is someone in this city going to take the initive and go head to head with him and bring pirate radio back to where it belongs........... with the Irish???????

radioboy
28th October 2002, 21:46
Actually Peader , if you re read my post you'll notice how I wasn't slagging freedom, it's by far one of the best pirates on the dial. I was simply expressing my own personal view that I didn't like Nikki, however having spent more time listening to the station and Nikki in particular so as to give a more educated contribution to this thread, I feel even more strongly about what I said, and think she really doesn't have any good qualities to bring to the station. However this is just merely my personal opinion, and apparently I don't have the right to express it in here.

As for the sexism side of things, I possibly didn't explain myself well enough. I think it's good that girls are being given a chance by freedom and other stations, but it doesn't seem vrey balanced girls/guys at the moment. I do think the majority of jocks on freedom are great.
