Hi,
Now that we're completely closed down I would just like to hear your opinions about Kiss 102 in Wexford. That is if you ever had the chance to hear it.
Thanks.

If its any consolation young Doyle, i thought in fairness that ye' were excellent, from both a technical and on air aspect. Shame that your gone. Competition is always healthy.
Stand proud, for the time you were on you achieved a lot.:)

Agree with pa, although the middle of the road stuff during daytime was a bit too similar to SER... nightime and weekend dance toons were ace though, particularly that guy who mixed for a couple of hours early nights at weekends.

Kiss had a great run and was just beginning to mature; Kiss Classic and the very new promos to name a few areas. The only consolation is that the audience was starting to take the station more and more for granted. (particularly since the station made such an impact on beginning)

Update: Energy in Enniscorthy was raided and closed down last week. No more details as of now.

Energy was not raided. The odtr visited their transmitter site and told them to shut down.

I personally thought kiss fm was excellent. Particularly noticable was the station branding and music format which worked very well. The audio was excellent - I believe they had an optimod? Friends of mine came from liverpool on holiday in september and wouldnt believe me when I told them it was a pirate. Some of the djs sounded a little inexperienced but there was 1 or 2 who were very pro. Congratulations to the people behind the station and thankyou for many many hours of great radio.

Leigh Doyle`s crank calls were excellent! The best one was when he rang a Dublin taxi company pretending to be drunk. (in the afternoon..hint..hint) He started off by the bridge at The Point but then, seemed to change to Ballsbridge. It went on for about 8-10 minutes -nearly pissed myself. Not heard a better one since.
Leigh had experience of doing the voice on on an ad for a local taxi company where your man in the pub got a call from the girlfriend threatening to throw him out if he didn`t get home in 10 minutes. Sounded like Brian Lacey singing "O Mammy....." in the background!
Brian Lacey used to sound as if was sh***ing when Leigh, the station manager, was around (trying to be "professional" as opposed to just havin` a good oul mess) "Check out the kiss
website....has some pictures up on there" (the station logo only!!)
Lee Heinz told an audience that a cat which came in "won`t be doing anything like that again". Later said that the cat was just put out (nothing else). Had the balls to read out a text from a girl looking to know if he`d go with this youngwan. Think it got abusive. Fair play!
You`d wonder how loud Neil O`Leary had that car stereo up when he was ringing the studio to get his name in the same sentence as "Kiss Fm DJ" on air.
Listening on the August Bank holiday morning when Leigh had a major hangover. Mid-way through started doing the links in the nip! (someone just texted in the suggestion)
A presenter from Energy Fm ("The Man"), got one read out
by Brian claiming Kiss was useless and Energy was much better.
"that`s your opinion....we`re just doing our own thing" (didn`t know who it was)
There was this insane guy shouting in the background at one stage with a Waterford accent : "I woke up in a field", "woke up in chips myself once".
Hope no one`s up Sh**t Creek (Calesberg Ident) after posting this!!!
:D :D :D

So when the odtr visit you to tell you to close down do they generally give you a chance to close down instead of barging straight in and confiscating all your gear?

That Cat you mentioned got a severe beating, It came in During Lee Heinz's air shift and pissed all over the studio, then when he tried to put it out it sunk its teeth into his wrist drawing serious amounts of blood.
And for all you animal cruelty people, the cat walked away to live another day.

Maybe high levels of RF in the studio drove it haywire!!:D

We were thinkin more along the lines that the Cat was sent by the ODTR to sabotage the studio! An evil cat it was too :)
