View Full Version : Fawlty Towers titles

Can anyone recall any of the jumbled-up names that appeared on the signpost at start of each of the different episodes of Fawlty Towers?

I was discussing this via email during the week and my mind drew a blank. I've got them on video and will dig them out, however the first episode was on satellite tonight...

The 's' hanging off is obviously the start of the rot...and the opening title to arguably the greatest sitcom ever made...

Funniest. (non animated) Sitcom. Ever.

The 2 DVD releases are well worth hiring

I think the programme is brilliant. Especially the one with the rather deaf mrs. Richards in it.

Here is my favourite moment:

Basil mimes speaking to mrs. Richards and Mrs. richards thinks she has not got her hearng aid up loud enough and trurns it up and Basil screams in her ear and she gets awfully distressed.

Matt

There was probably a Trowels in there.

The rat peaking out of the tin at the dinner table or the German goosestepping.

Great television moments.

I remember that episode, its the one with the dinner party and the chef gets completely pissed so basil goes into andre's restaraunt to get duck... on his way back the car breaks down, in the pic above this is basil trying to fix the car, shortly afterwards he beats it with a branch of a tree... i won't give away the ending.

If anyones interested in getting all the episodes of fawlty towers just send me three blank cdr's - I have them all in DIVX format. Or PM me...

Basil to car: " I'm going to count to three, 1...2...3...! Right, that's it, I have layed it on the line with you time and time again and don't say I didn't warn you. I'm going to give you a damn good thrashing!!"

****Followed by thrashing and shouting****

Episode 6 (the last in the first series made in 1975 ) is disappointing - titles-wise i mean, not the episode itself of course!

It doesn't feature the outside of the hotel...

Does anybody remember a programme (id say it was on around the same time as faulty towers. Victor melldrew was in it..... it was about these 3 guys in a hospital? The theme tune was "im H.A.P.P.Y" anybody know what im on about for a change? (",)

Totally changing the subject again but one of the funniest has to be father ted, when himself and dougle are trying to write a song for the eurovision and dougle is on the guitar...... TED- 'play the fu**ing note, not that one, the first fu**ing one. The one u played the fu**ing first time. lol

Watery fowles was another one .
Yeah , mrs richards the deaf lady was the funniest tv moment of the 70's , the woman who played her should have won an award for her performance , she was excellent .
The major did it for me , an old war hero who couldn't remember his own name never mind the money basil won on the horse .

Anybody remember the name of the horse ????

Sorry for the delay in continuing with this...

It looks like in episode 7 (Series 2 episode 1), they just reused the opening title from episode 2...
