I know it's early, but I'm carrying out some research, for the best christmas songs of all time.
I know stations up and down the country do it around Chrimbo time, but I'm wondering from my fellow radio friends here, what your top 10 christmas songs would be.
When I mean the best christmas songs ever, I mean the classic ones and not the spice girls or westlife recent christmas no.1's.
Post here your favourite all time christmas top 10, and many thanks in advance for your selection.

I think Kevin Wilson's song went like this:
Oi Santa Claus you c.nt where's my fu.king bike?
I've unwrapped all this other junk
And there's nothin that I like.
I wrote you a fu.king letter
And I come to see you twice
You worn out geriatric fart you forgot my fu.kin bike!
There was something about his little sister and the pram too ... and the classic fade-out line "I saw mummy sucking Santa Claus"
Have to admit, I was quite impressed with 'Mick the Master Farter' too — when I was 12. Still have two of his tapes somewhere.
BTW, my all time favourite Chrimbo songs have to be Fairytale of New York at Number 1 and that Pretenders song that I can never remember the name of.
Oooh, and Paul McCartney's Frog Song — reminds me of my childhood, but for some reason you never hear it any more.

Somewhere in the back of my mind I remember listening to Radio Dublin in d'old days of AM radio and heard Thin Lizzy being played at Christmas time with a rock version of Jingle Bells.
This would have been around 1978 and I don't think I have heard it since or come across anyone else who did. It was a great version and I would love to hear it again.....anyone got any ideas on where it might be ?
Ger Roe.

I'd 2nd Elaine's selection;). On the subject though we haven't had what ya call a classic christmas tune since that era and its fair to say Band 20 stands well short of that this time around.

Im not a big fan of xmas tunes , i find they tend to get boring after a while , maybe because like everybody else here , were playing them at least 5 nights a week over a short period.
Having said that , i have a few that i will always enjoy playing and never really tire of them .
''I wish it could be xmas everyday'' by Wizzard , it has everything a good xmas song should have , great melody, lots of xmas jingles, great lyrics and superb music .A genuine classic.
Last Christmas by Wham, it just smells of Christmas , again very catchy , great melody and clever lyrics . Superb.
Stay another day, by East 17 , it was just a f**kin great pop song .
All i want for Xmas by Mirah Carey, catchy as f**k, great vocals , builds really well into another great pop record and has PARTY written all over it . Brilliant tune.
Finally , , Lynott, Jones ,Cook and as far as i can remember Mick Jones of the Clash ? i may be wrong .''A Christmas punk rock''a merry jingle''
It was so different , a bit repetitive i know but f**kin great guitar and because of my loyalty to Mr Lynott and the Pistols i just have to mention them.
I think the reason we dont have any decent xmas tunes nowdays is just a lack of talent in todays market.
If you take Wizzard for example , Roy Wood will never ever come up with a tune like that again as long as he lives , it was a one off , same goes for Wham , a moment of brilliance at the right time . Its the same with all great music , only a very few will ever be consistent with quality music which is very rare in the current music climate .
