2nd October 2002, 18:58
Well each to their own Frankie

Some nice ones there Slick

"Sabres of Paradise - Smokebelch" I prefer the David Holmes mix but it's all good

"Sunscreem - Perfect Motion"

A great, great tune. Must dig it out, you could probably still get away with it at the warm up point of a gig

"Tall Paul vs Billie - Because we want to"

There's something about Tall Paul remixes that just wreck the place. He really knows how a dancefloor works

Some more .............

Hannah Jones - Young Hearts (am starting to play this out again and it gets the females on the floor straight away)
Crystal Waters - 100% Pure Love

WICKED tunes there Slick and one or two gems there too Big Gig

Last week a CDR with Rozzo (TP mix), My Friend Sam, Last Rhythm, Shades Of Rhythm and one or two more decided to finally implode on me after 5 years or so of heavy use. I have to dig out the vinyl and re-do them all over again.

Aaaaah!

Only winding ya up Slick .......lol

Slicklink
4th October 2002, 14:42
So Clubhappy=frankie says relax.......... all very confusing.... no some associate song with a certain station...... and thats ok ..pity it brands them as being a scumbag song cause it was played to death on a dodgy dance pirate. eg. Visions of Shiva - Perfect Day

Speakin of association, You know in Pulse FM days the following would have been the most requested songs

Robert Miles - Children
Underworld - Born Slippy
Faithless - Insomnia
Strike - U sure do
Tatjana - Santa Maria (awful tune though)

However these where the most played and hopefully somebody has burnt these CDs so they will never see thelight of days again

Herbie - Right Type of Mood
Tokyo Ghetto Pussy
Mr Roy - Saved

And then the classics (or the D list as it was known)
Sensation - Beautiful Morning
Sound Crowd - Ringsend/6th Season
Rising High Collective - Fever Called Love

And then the downright dodgy

Masterboy - Anybody
u96 - Club Bizarre
Hondy - Hondy...(Chris Murrays Fav lol and possibly the worst dance tune ever released in the mid 90s)
Anthing by The Outhere Bros, Scatman John, Those short short man people, and that summer is magic tune and anything by Corona, who not many people realise realeased the same tunes over and over again!

I've tried hard to get an original CD copy of Marcella De Troit. The nearest I got was the Australian CD single of the track - which did not have the proper mix on it! Anybody know the name of the mix featured on the bootleg copy as sold in Abbey Discs?

KJ
21st November 2002, 11:39
As far as I can remember John it was by DOP, yup - the same ones who did "Lion". I cant remember the original label it was out on but if you ask Billy in Abbey he'll know - that guy is a walking talking encyclopedia of dance music ;)

Most of the DOP stuff came out on Guerilla recordings. Here's a discography...

http://ad.techno.org/d/guerilla.html

...no sign of Marcella De Troit remixes though!

As for DOP "Lion", does anybody have or has anybody ever seen an original copy of this tune??? I have a DOP album and it has a track on it called "Lion" and it is nothing at all like the stomping classic tune we know!! I'm having my doubts as to if that track is actually by DOP!

JDxtra

Seems you may be right KJ - according to this site, there was a DOP remix of Marcella Detroit. Released on London records...

From next Monday on our Back To The Old School bit of the show we'll be playing some Sound Crowd memories that'll put a a big dirty smile on your face if you were there in the 90's.
