Does anyone know of a good and reasonably priced pc based editing package that would allow capture of output from an analogue video camera (dumping back to analogue video when completed).

I have quite a bit of footage collected over the past few years (mostly of Phantom) which I would like to put together in a documentary item, but I want to do something a bit more imaginative and less time consuming than using an audio mixer and video recorder.

I have yet to find someone in any of the pc retail outlets with any experience on the subject - has anyone here got any advice ?

Get a hold of pinnacle dv studio for mini dv editing. It's basic but it does the job. If wanna go more upmarket try adobe Premier which is a top the range digital video editng prog. a bit like Final Cut Pro on the MAC, which is used in laptop editing setups for tv broadcast, believe or not
Anyway hope that helps

Thanks Kat,

I must actually try to do something with the material soon. So many plans and so little time - the usual problem.
