Be it playing them at gigs or hearing them on the radio, what songs do ye love to hate?
Here's a few for starters
Proclaimers - 500 Miles (top of the list by a long shot)
Nickleback - How You Remind Me
Bon Jovi - Living On A Prayer
GnR - Sweet Child Of Mine
Tight Fit - The Lion Sleeps
Whats yours??

Scooter-the logical song (i just hate it full stop)
Nickleback-how u remind me (to cut my hair)

That's *my* request list for Sunday night's "shoe" updated!
Personally:
Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much, from the opening chords i jump to switch stations, but once i've heard those opening chords the full song is in my head, and there's little else in my head at the best of times, so the song hangs around for quite a while, sometimes stopping to have a cup of tea!
Bryan Adams - Everything I Do, I Do it to drive you crazy
Supertramp - Logical Song (illogical i know because everybody seems to love it!)

Supertramp 's logical song ??
How dare you slag off a classic john , next you'll be slagging off
The Nolans , Boney M {ok daddy cool was funky ] ,Brotherhood of man , Black lace {legends in the music industry} ,Dana {a babe },Philomena begley [sex on legs and a great singer },the list goes on.
Gotta go , need to get sober and get off this LSD .
PS ....anybody got The Outhere Brothers album for my next trip .
KJ
17th September 2002, 03:02
Black Lace??! lmao
Others ...........
Russ Abbot - Atmosphere (HOW drunk exactly do ye need to be for this?)
Id agree on Tina Turner's "The Best" too (baaaaad flashbacks to my mobile disco days as a kid)
Obvious crap like;
Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (Handbag Hell)
Tiffany - I Think We're Alone Now (actually a great pop tune once, just *really* over-played now)
Madonna - Like A Virgin (ditto)
Recent stuff .........
Ive said it on the board already, but I just wanna underline my love and good vibes for Scooter, Las Ketchup and the Madhouse take on "Like A Prayer". The latter sounding like a cat been strangled, stuck into a bin bag and thrown down a flight of stairs. The girl is so out of tune its funny. Shame on all gigging jocks who didnt bother getting the bootleg version with the original Madonna vocal! :p

KJ

Just the Madhouse "cover version" ....... Ive heard me Ma singing better after too many at family functions ;)
The Madonna bootleg I play is probably my biggest floor-filler at the mo' tho

Add me to the anti-Scooter list, and add MOST of the rap crap that seems to comprise of shouting over what would be pretty good funky updates to old samples.
"Jus'coz u can do it, boy, don' mak usgothroughit, boy, keep yer rappin' twoyerselcoz all that crap drives me to hell and if you think you shouldbeheard make sher dat you ken say the words coz joinin dem and talkin fast an losin letters piss me of fast.."
Then add any boyband where the lyrics seem to come out their noses.....AND it seems to be catching...on a recent (unintentional, I might add) channel-flicking pause at "The Lyrics Board", someone who for a moment looked like they might actually appreciate music gave some classic musical the Ronan Keating treatment - ouch!

"you're mi-i-i-i-ine baby, your my favourite waste of time" uh ha, baby. one two- check the mike, big up y'all... love to hear a rapped up remix of that crap .....not!!
Original Tyrone Gobshite!

I'm generally a person that is completely against Capital punishment...
...until I heard Blazin' Squad's complete destruction of Crossroads. Ditto All Saint's cover of Under the Bridge. I hate pop groups that cover a song to make it sound completly different and strip all meaning out of the original
Dont know who sings it but u know the one "hit me with your rythem stick" lol.................aggggggggggh It was Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
I actually don't mind Scooter that much (this of course comes from someone who has their "Greatest Hits" Album from 1998!) - In pretty much the same vein as the Vengaboys (remember them? Whoops!) Their poppy Eurodance anthems were released as singles, the more harder, underground stuff as b-sides and album tracks. You need to see more than the surface in them.
The line does have to be drawn at Las Ketchup, Geri Halliwell and Madhose though...

Ah kittykat i like that song lol.... no really i do!! (",).
I agree with the cover versions but there is one that i think was good "the pet shop boys, always on my mind".
Anything with ja rule drives me up the wall..... sorry but its like every rnb song feat ja rule. He cant even sing!!! (sorry dane)
Dane Bowers
22nd September 2002, 15:50
Ja Rule is only one of the most talented artists to come out of America in the last fifty years, some may find his singing talent debatable (Personally I think he rox) But you can't argue that he really is the king of the remix. Don't diss him!
I was trying to attach a nie sexy picture of him, but it's saying It's not a valid gif of jpg file, which it is, hmmm...odd!
Anyway It's much more thoughtful of me to tell you about
this http://www.geocities.com/da_playa_domain/rulepix.html
Yea, Elaine, and try not to drool too much! :)

I'm with Elaine......musically, it might be iffy, and it won't win any awards, but Owen Paul's one-hit-wonder is a definite memory-prompter from the 80s.

Paul Anka ? Jeez, there's one I haven't heard in a while!
One funny thing is how stuff that was once overplayed tends to be better than memory served when you hear it again (think Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn")

Simply the best .Tina Turner , mainly requested by women who dont get out too much and have limited club or music experience .
Most of them have a Westlife CD somewhere in the collection along with The best of ''Brendan Grace ''
There should be a law set up banning them from ever visiting nightclubs and keeping their nights out restricted to the local kareokie in some run down toilet where everybody sings ''The fields of Athenry '' at the end of the night .
No disrespect meant here , [ actually lots of disrespect meant here ] , most women are sooooooooooooo predictable , ill give 1,0000 euro to the first woman up to me next tuesday looking for The Sex Pistols or AC/DC ........

Tight Fit - In The Jungle
Would that be "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", Kelly ? (awim-away, awim-away :D )
For my book, any over-produced, badly-thought-out cover version or sample that neither adds to or retains the impact and meaning of the original.
Bren Long

Any of those Westlife versions of the crooner classics. Sinatra, Martin, Davis, and Lawford must still be screaming with horror in their graves, and I'm surprised Joey Bishop hasn't had an aneurism as a result.
Anything by the Cheeky Girls.
Any Stock Aiken & Waterman production.
Anything by Busted (proof that bad things come in 3's).
All those terrible manufactured band cover versions that we've been subjected to over the years.
G4 and Il Divo songs. STOP WITH THE OPERA/POP/ROCK SHITE.

Oh yeah - Dreadlock Holiday 10cc - have to reach for the remote when I hear it coming on - Dilemma - Nellie and Kelly, Kylie - Slow....

8th April 2005, 18:51
Well, I have to disagree with all those people who mentioned the Proclaimers. I quite liked them and thought 500 Miles was one of their best. I have to admit to getting a free Christie Hennessy CD once in a draw and I enjoyed his stuff! I also think Mr Jones by the Counting Crows and Dreadlock Holiday by 10cc are very good!! I have also mellowed with Abba over the years.
I have to say UB40's early stuff like Food for Thought and One in Ten were pretty good, but their later stuff was mainly bland if not awful!
That said I would agree with most of the others mentioned. One of my pet hates has always been anything sung by Neil Diamond. Should be banned from Weddings... in fact, nearly every Wedding pop favourite!
Also, I think U2 came out with their worst song ever with Mysterious Ways.
Also Move Closer by Phil Nelson.
