What's the best way to hide or disguise TX gear and fm transmitting antennas so that they are not obvious to nosey neighbours but that they can be erected high enough for maximum coverage???

Well Simga SDH100 is a common looking type of antenna,SDH70/80 are everywhere!!does not look like a broadcast antenna;)

Alternatively if you can get a 2 or element yagi most people would assume its a recieve aerial. The only thing you have to watch out for is that most recieve aerials are 73ohm wheras most transmitters are 52 ohm but It is possible to fing 52 ohm yagis or you can make up a matching balun.

How technically savvy are these neighbours anyway couldnt you make out youre into CB radio or something ? as long as youre not causing TVI why should they give a damn ?

Pulse Fm (The old one who used to broadcast to Dublin via Mark McCabe) stuck it up a tree at this friends house

That was at the very start before moving to above a certain club in town and it went from there

Surrounding the antenna with piping, extended the cables to a builing adjacent to that which is beneath the antenna and throughing the transmitter out the studio window during raids. an extremely harardous but easily implementable system. (PROBABLY NOT ADVISABLE)

" throughing"
Do you mean "throwing" by any chance?

A popular move in the States if you're not on too high a power is to mount a 'Slim Jim' vertical whip or similar inside a length of drain pipe (yes I know if it has radials that's a problem). Mounted on the side of a building it just looks like a vent pipe or flue.

Macers...... Pulse's gear was orginaly in Ronan's back garden in Clontarf the FM link aeriel was strategically placed under a big old oak tree with stay wires running off walls and the transmitter shed....... When the station moved to Belvedere Place and the UHF tx was in the loft which could easily be lashed onto the roof of the adjoining building next door in the event of a raid........

Know of one station with the ant covered with pipe lagging in someone elses (innocent neighbour) loft, and the Tx hidden, with a UHF link from a nearby studio, TX switched on by a tone on the link.

Unfortunately we're not all so bold!!!!!
