It's pricey though in the UK. I don't get why people would pay extra money each month for Sky+ when you have already forked out for the Sky+ box and pay a monthly sub anyways.

Ive decided to unsubscribe from Sky ............... their Administration - while initially excellent - is now a bit of a sham. It's just not worth the bread anymore IMHO

I don't get why people would want it full stop. Everything half decent on Sky is repeated to death, and that's not counting for the popular channels having a +1hour version. The movie channels show the half decent films dozens of times. 'Live' football runs over and over, why would you want it?!

Becuase sometimes RTE / TV3 and the UK terrestials is just not enough!

Even with all those channels there'll still be nights where there's f**k all on the telly.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I meant, why would anybody want Sky+ considering how much all the Sky channels already timeshift their programmes with their +1 versions and endless repeats. I have Sky myself.

For example, anyone with UK Play, BBC2, and UK Gold are now being presented with their fourth chance in the past few months to watch the second series of a particular - and not exceptionally popular - comedy show that I'm a fan of...and that's not accounting for the fact that RTÉ will probably buy it too and show it on N2!

This kind of reminds me of the old joke about the Oirish video, It records stuff you don't want then plays it back when you're out!

Is it possible to pay the Biography Channel direct? I dont watch much TV but I found BC to be worth a look. That and the music channels (audio and visual) used to make SKy worth the bread for the Basic package. Not anymore tho'!

All of the channels are bundled together Kelly. I have a feeling that the documentary channels are in the cheapest price package though. I know it used to be about 8£ just for kids and documentaries but I have a feeling that's all changed.

Sky+ will go towards making the only remaining advantage of cable tv obsolete here in Ireland. For just the Sky package it isn't worth it as anorak has said, but for anyone with a FTV card, or when all the uk terestrial channels are on the package, Sky+ will allow you to record one channel (Eastenders on BBC1 say) while the football is on Sky Sports. This will be a major advantage.
Dual output receivers would hammer down the final nail in the coffin for NTL.
