Sad to say I go back further with Cecil. Ten Years After- Love Like A Man, Free- All Right Now, Taste -Morning Sun and Canned Heat-Lets Work Together we part of the staple diet when I first went there.

there was (or is) another Grove re-union night planned recently. They even had Cecils name on the poster as the main jock!
(not being a Northsider it was Wes for me as a young cider drinker)

There was a reunion night a few weeks ago alright. I noticed a few posters up and around the old school on Sybil Hill. I believe Marty Whelan made an appearance at it too..

The first "discos" I went to as a lad were The Grove and The College Scene in St Joseph's School in Drumcondra, the DJ there was Sean McGuire and it was a toss up as to who was the better him or Cecil.Cecil was a litte more predictable while Sean was more varied in his music choices. Where else could you get Jimmy Cliff -Wonderful World Beautiful People followed by McKenna Mendelson Mainline-She's Alright straight into The Rolling Stones-Honky Tonk Woman. Not sure if Sean is still with us-hope so..a legend.:)

I suppose the other for me in my era was The Oasis on Griffith Avenue (hey I even inherited the whole record collection). A radio station that wasnt a million miles away (up in annadale) ran some nights there to. I think you may have come accroos that jock in Easi, jolishan!

I never liked the Grove. Cecil never played Showwaddywaddy or Gary Glitter. I was afraid of the San Sabena Slappers, Holy Faith Flashers and The Manor House Maulers . The nice girls from Virgo Clemens never came. A clean living guy like me needed to say the rosary after a night of sin in the Grove.
